Video 3 - Margaery's Apartment

[The video opens not in the Sewing Shop but in Margaery's apartment where she's sitting in the middle of her bed, a pillow clasped in her arms. she's looking down from the camera and she's in a bathrobe and nightgown, both wrinkled. her hair is disheveled and her eyes are heavily rimmed with red, as though she's spent a long time crying. which she has been. a whole day and night and a new day of crying.

she tries to look up at the camera, clear her throat and speak, but the words don't come. fresh tears well in her eyes and she looks down again, biting her lower lip.

a long moment passes with nothing but Margaery fighting back tears and silent. finally, she looks back up at the camera and speaks]

I--I thought people may want to know that Matt Murdock is no longer among us. His. His help was invaluable in the time before the Null invasion and [her voice breaks] he will be missed greatly.

[she brushes a tear off of her cheek, looking down again. she forces herself to look back up and continues]

I need to apologize to those I promised garments to. I. It will be at least another month before they're finished. I'm--I'm sorry.

[ Looks thoughtful, if anything. And okay maybe a little upset by this news, Matt was cool and the boys never found out if he was batman or not.]

[Margaery looks more than a little upset. she clutches the pillow she's holding tighter]

Do you think? Oh, I hope so! I--[tears well up again]--I don't know what I'll do if he doesn't.

[It's not the same, he knows, but Delmar has felt the wretched heartache that comes with the loss of someone you love. In his case the love had not been returned, but still the hurt had eaten away something inside him, left it forever aching. So he can only guess at how much worse it must feel when the love you lost was something shared and nurtured, something beautiful made between two people.]

[it's terrible. she'd never fallen in love with anyone before, never imagined how good it would feel to love and be loved by another, to not have to pretend to be anyone else to be appreciated, to feel free to share everything, even her darkest secrets with another person and not be judged. to be held close and truly make love, not just endure sex. to say that she's heartbroken is an understatement]

[Aren frowns, sympathetic though awkward. Dealing with such things isn't her forte, but even she can't entirely ignore this.]

[Margaery wouldn't wish this pain on anyone. it feels like she's been hollowed out from the inside, like the slightest push would make her collapse. but she tries to summon her courage. her voice still trembles, though]

[her voice is breaking and she dashes back tears]

He was--he is my beloved. And you're right. This place won't be the same without him.

[This is a very specific kind of misery that Ikaruga is well acquainted with, although she'd simply sent people texts privately to advise that sword lessons were cancelled for the next couple of days. In fact, she'd kept his departure mostly to herself, aside from mentioning it to a select few, including Margaery.]

[Margaery didn't feel that private texts would be enough. she knows how instrumental Matt was in the lead-up to the Null's attack and there would just be too many people to contact. forcing herself to do this was hard, though, even harder than getting over her own death. and because it's Ikaruga and Margaery trusts her completely, she's willing to show a little more weakness. she starts to cry a little, slow tears running down her cheeks]

Thank you. I'd--it would be easier for you to come here. I don't feel quite up to getting dressed and going out.
