Video 3 - Margaery's Apartment

[The video opens not in the Sewing Shop but in Margaery's apartment where she's sitting in the middle of her bed, a pillow clasped in her arms. she's looking down from the camera and she's in a bathrobe and nightgown, both wrinkled. her hair is disheveled and her eyes are heavily rimmed with red, as though she's spent a long time crying. which she has been. a whole day and night and a new day of crying.

she tries to look up at the camera, clear her throat and speak, but the words don't come. fresh tears well in her eyes and she looks down again, biting her lower lip.

a long moment passes with nothing but Margaery fighting back tears and silent. finally, she looks back up at the camera and speaks]

I--I thought people may want to know that Matt Murdock is no longer among us. His. His help was invaluable in the time before the Null invasion and [her voice breaks] he will be missed greatly.

[she brushes a tear off of her cheek, looking down again. she forces herself to look back up and continues]

I need to apologize to those I promised garments to. I. It will be at least another month before they're finished. I'm--I'm sorry.

she takes a deep breath, trying to steady herself]

It happened yesterday. The day before, we went to bed together but when I woke, he was--gone.

[ Another selfish thought, one she doesn't share: did the same thing happen to Marko, when she found herself here? ]

Are you sure he's not just...lost somewhere, maybe?

[she looks down and bites her lip, then shakes her head no]

I checked the network list. It shows everyone who lives in Hadriel. It [her voice breaks] didn't show his.

[ She commits that piece of info to mind. ]

I'm really sorry.

[ Close from saying "that sucks", and meaning it, but maybe it's best if this guy is free. Right? ]

I'm sure you'll see him again, right?

[it's hard to say. Matt hated the gods and being imprisoned by them, but he loved Margaery.

she chokes up again and it takes her a while to answer] No. We're from different worlds. And I'm dead in mine.

[ That's still something that doesn't completely make sense to her. The instinctive reaction to to think "different planets", but this place doesn't work like that.

There's an urge to say "who knows, maybe you'll see him again anyway", but it feels empty and untrue. It's also fair to say that it's not that easy comforting a stranger. Alana is out of sympathetic words to give without being repetitive, but she does a mental double-take at that last part.]

You're...?

[she's determined to see him again. she knows a lot about him and the Earth he comes from and she's going to go there when it's her turn to go]

I'm dead in my world and the world has moved on. There's no place for me there.

[Well, Alana isn't about to discuss how the rules of reality, interdimensional travel and everything else work. Mostly because she doesn't really know.]

So it's true...?

[She says it in a mutter, not actually meant for Margaery.]

How did...you know. How was it...ending up here?

I remember dying, then darkness. The next thing I remember is arriving in the coliseum.

Huh...

[ "That's it?", she feels like asking. But it feels almost insulting.

There's not a lot more she can say to this woman. She believes her determination - not so much the results.

But she's very interested in knowing someone who really did die and ended up here. The timing for this conversation is bad, but...]

Just woke up here? Like everyone else?

Yes, just like everyone else. Why? Were you expecting a different answer?

I...guess not.

[ She's not sure what she expected. ]

Will you be okay?

...no. Likely not. Not for a long time.

[ Not words she knows to do anything with, but entirely understandable ones.

She isn't sure how to go on, attempts at showing a stranger some sympathy, while she's still dealing with figuring this place out. She hopes the words mean something, but they rarely make a difference.

An offer, she tries, while she's not very good at it:]

[ You should probably find someone else, but she can be there if you're out of options. ]

[she tries to summon some of her queenly dignity. it's likely unconvincing]

I will look for you. I suppose I should introduce myself properly. My name is Margaery Tyrell, Queen of the Seven Kingdoms.

[ Well, that's a weird change of tone. But you do you, lady, she won't judge. ]

A queen? Wow.

Huh, Alana. I own a rocket tree, I guess.

[ Does she? That thing has kind of a mind of its own. ]

[it's all she has left at present]

One without her country and unlikely to ever return.

Alana. That's a pretty name. But, what's a rocket?

Huh. That sucks. [ I mean. It does, right? ]

Oh-- thank you.

And huh...you know. A thing that flies through the air. Really big?

[ Specific! ]

Not really. I have no intentions of returning. [because she's dead there.

her brows furrow] No, I've never heard of such a thing.

Huh, okay, hum...

[ Shit, well, she never had to describe a rocket, much less a rocket tree. It's surprisingly hard. ]

A rocket is... [ She does a vague...rocket shape with her hands. Like an arrow? Something long that ends in a point. ] This sort of thing with a thing in the back to make it shoot up in the air and into space.

And, huh, ours is a tree. And a house. Not a tree-house, but I guess sort of like one.

[ Good job, Alana. ]

[she follows along as best as she can, but such technologies and even basic terms like "space" are unheard of in Westeros]

So you. . . live in it? And it travels to different places?

[ Too bad she has the worst science teacher ever, right now. ]

Yeah, pretty much.

It's always been good for us. Not sure my family and I would be alive without it.

[and while Margaery's lessons in politics and charm were extensive, lessons in science (or what's understood of it)? not so much]

You have a family? Are you a mother?

[ Alana...smiles. There's sadness in that smile, but her look is soft and gentle. ]

Yeah. Got a little girl.

Her name's Hazel.

[her expression turns distressed]

The gods took you from your child? How cruel. Is her father with her, at least?
