009 [Video]
[After a month or so of mostly sticking to text and voice, Lance is back to video for another network broadcast. He's still looking a little unwell, but definitely better than in his last post or any time he's spoken with someone in person since then.
He was also fortunate enough to be in his apartment when the dust storm started, so he doesn't have to camp out in some public place or with people he doesn't like. Hurray! And since pretty much everyone is stuck inside somewhere, this actually ends up being a good time to make a network post to address a few things.]
Hello, everyone. For those who just arrived or otherwise haven't met me yet, I'm Dr. Lance Sweets, and I'm a psychologist; if anyone ever needs or wants to speak to someone professionally, whether about being here or otherwise, you're welcome to send a message or call at any time.
[And that usual note out of the way--]
But I also wanted to discuss something somewhat unrelated, which is the subject of creating an organized directory of who has what skills that they're willing to teach, if asked. Many here want to learn new skills or hobbies, whether due to practicality or boredom or otherwise, but it can be difficult to figure out who to ask especially if you're new and may not want to either use the network for a general announcement, or approach someone you may not know individually.
So a list of who is willing to teach what skills, and who is alright with being asked to do so, would be beneficial a lot of people here. I can compile and maintain it as a file that can be shared.
[It's not like he's doing a whole lot at the moment, having pretty much quit working at the Clinic. He seems to briefly consider continuing with another topic but then ends the feed there; the other thing he wanted to discuss probably wouldn't go over as well as the first one, and he'd prefer everyone not get distracted.]

it actually makes total sense. its just weird for me.
like do u get all ur magical info on shit like harry potter?
dont believe rowling. shes a fuckin muggle if ive ever seen one.
its insanely useful tho. its y idg ppl who dont bother learning magic.
like guess who never needs to carry a lighter? or fuck w. subways? or lock my door?
this guy right here.
[He could probably figure out a way to float his phone, but mostly, he's just remotely accessing it with his brain while it's still in his pocket. Modernized magic is the best kind of magic.]
no subject
Can everyone in your world learn magic if they want to?
[Since it seems to be possible to teach people not from their world he assumes so, but if so yeah he can't understand why people wouldn't bother learning at least some basics. The flashlight industry should at least have gone out of business, with how easy the light spell is.]
no subject
most ppl can yeah. a lot of ppl know a couple cantrips back home.
usually the more useful shit like prestidigitation or w.e. they teach that in schools.
but keepin up w. it is hard work. esp if u want to get more advanced than that.
to some ppl its easier to just carry around a lighter.

[Magic sounds way cooler than cooking, but if he'd grown up with magic then they'd probably be comparably boring, right?]
no subject
[The most important pull from this text, clearly.]
r u exaggerating? like u kno how to make basic shit but ur not gonna attempt anything fancy?
that is what u mean right?
[PLEASE LANCE.]
no subject
Yeah, that's what I mean. I can cook if I absolutely have to, but baked potatoes and ramen get boring really fast.
[So he almost never cooks; what's the point of having a good job if you can't spend most of your money on food?]
no subject
yikes bud that sure is a lot of starch.
or w.e tf ramen is made out of. styrofoam?
[...But okay fair point re: the job thing. HH agrees but also love yourself.]
maybe u should take jt up on those cooking classes.
or just mooch off of me like kyna does.
no subject
And I would but last time I was in a cooking class I got kicked out for being a fire hazard. Mooching might be my only choice.
[Or just surviving on whatever he can find and prepare here, which lately has not been a lot.]
no subject
seriously tho hmu if ur hungry and tired of a styrofoam based diet. ill hook u up.
im feeding like half the town already anyway. one mores nbd.
plus i owe u one for talking to michael.
that helped.
thank you.
no subject
[He was high on cough medicine, not anything actually fun. :c]
I might take you up on that sometime, thanks.
[But that last part is a bit of a surprise, and since Harlan already obviously knows--presumably Michael told him him--Lance doesn't need to deny having spoken with Michael, though he still can't say too much.]
You don't owe me anything, but I'm glad it helped.
no subject
fuck ur neighbors. and the ppl in that class but mostly ur neighbors.
ok well regardless take me up on it.
im workin on a fix for michael too so dw abt him if u were.
[He's very familiar with the whole confidentiality thing, and he assumes that won't be too different where Lance is from. He appreciates the discretion. He's not about to get into details, anyway. He's not sure how much Michael told Lance, either.]
no subject
I'm glad. If there's anything I can do, just let me know.
[Because he's still going to worry, although that reassurance means he might worry less now at least.]
no subject
ill let u kno how it goes ok?
later man.
