[ Cash knows how these network type things work, so she is feeling pretty smart right about now. when the video comes on, you can see she's holding the phone at arms length. she fixes her hair first, and then smiles. ]

Well, if I've got one of these, I'm sure the rest of you do too. Assuming you didn't get eaten by a bear. [ ha ha? ]

Doesn't that seem weird to you? [ her tone is a little pointed, edged with paranoia and wariness. anyone who is anyone is suspect. ] Why give us a cell phone?

[ because, let's face it, that doesn't make any fucking sense. at least not with the rules she came to understand in Silent Hill (no cell service). that narrowed out it being her, or Alessa, or even the cult. it meant that something else entirely had some grip on her life, and it made her stomach roll with fear. ] Why give us a way to communicate?

[ she knows the woman on the other line won't have the answers, but come on, this is all really fucked up, right? ]

Yeah it's weird, but it's not the weirdest thing that's happened to me. [ also: is that what these things are called? cell phones? well, that's what Cash will accept as it's name. ]

Something like this happened to me before. They gave us tablets. We could talk to each other, sometimes they talked to us. I think they were watching [ she corrects herself. ] I know they were watching. But if your choices are isolation or the cell phone, wouldn't you like to be able to know what everyone else is doing too?

[ It takes Sharon some time to answer, and when she does, she's quieter, more thoughtful. ]

So, wouldn't it be the same? Don't you think they're watching us with these? [ a beat ] Maybe even tracking us.

[ yeeeah, fuck that noise. she's going to hide the cell somewhere where she doesn't sleep. ] I'd rather physically meet up than use these.

[ she shrugs. of course they're being tracked. for Cash, that's a given. ] I think it's safe to assume these aren't an entirely friendly gift.

Meeting up in person could be dangerous, too. Maybe more dangerous.

Maybe. [ but, honestly, Sharon has little intention with meeting up with anyone. or using this device often. hermit time is a go. ]
