I'm going on one of these field trips to the Hope Temples. For the orb stuff, sure. But also, like... there are ruins of old cities out there. We need to check them all out. Not even for Hope, but... like, what if there's stuff to salvage, or things we can learn about the gods and the Null and this place, you know?

I've got food stockpiled up from when that sandstorm came through. I don't technically need one of the bikes to get there and back, so we'll be okay if it breaks down. And, um, we wouldn't have to take any of the clinic's resources with us either, so that's not a concern.

[...that's enough of an explanation, right? yeah.]

You wanna come along, let me know. I'm leaving tomorrow. I'm gonna go shop for some supplies tonight if you wanna come with. [He pauses, and then adds with a hint of hesitation:] ...Or, if you need some extra help when you go yourself, let me know. I can help keep you safe and help make sure you get back.

Oh, I figure they've left out plenty of important shit. But they act like they need us, you know? I don't think they'd let us wander anywhere near any information that could be used against 'em or used to get us out. They don't wanna lose their cattle. Not unless there's something out there they're more desperate for than they're afraid of us.
