Those who've been exploring in search of the orbs... How have you fared? Have you encountered anything notable? Are there more dangers out there that we should be wary of?

I can report myself that I've seen no new enemies, although I've come across obstacles such as dust storms... and a location where the terrain became especially difficult to navigate. There are occasional ruins, as well, but I've found nothing unusual among them yet.

I know the main objective is to assist Hope, but we also have an opportunity to find out what we can of this world, as well. The more we uncover, the better off we'll be.

Indeed so. We may be cautiously allied with them against the Null, in some sense, but they're still desperate to hold such power over us. We must never forget that.

That could be a good idea. The more that such information spreads, the better. We can't be caught unaware again.

Aye - the enemy of my enemy may be my friend, but they are still our captors, here.

Perhaps near the Guard House?

Exactly. I can afford them some much-deserved respect… especially Hope. He's given many of us second chances at life. But they still manipulate us. If there were only some other way…

That would be a good place to start. Yes.

Aye - we think on it the same, I think. There are better ways to ask for help then to kidnap and then hold lost souls the way they do! Some of us might well have come willing, if asked. And we'd be more willing to stay if they stopped randomly manipulating us too.

Thank you - I suppose I should look at joining the Guard too, but I've been a wanderer for so long now that the thought of joining a basic militia is rather offputting.

Right… What they're doing is a matter of survival, and they're desperate. I understand that. It's still no excuse for kidnapping and holding people captive. If the power balance could become more even, we'd be much better allies.

The Guard is a good group to be part of, especially if you've an interest in defending others. I guess I'm more used to this sort of arrangement… I've been a dragoon or in training to be one for as long as I can remember. But even if you're not… it's still worth considering.

Mm, both my brothers are members. I suppose...is there a way to be available but not an active member?

You'll want to ask one of the leaders, Henry or Nick, about that. But I don't see why not. We may not need everyone in times of peace, but when there's an active threat... we need all the help we can get.

I will do so, then. I do not mind standing against those who seek us harm - my sword is always at the guard's disposal, as my brothers know well. But I am old, and tired, and mostly prefer to be left alone. [ That last is very wry ]

I cannot blame you for that. As long as you're willing, and able to help in the times when we most need it... that's what matters most.

Then let it be so, that you might have even one more blade to your shield wall.

The addition is a very welcome one. I'll be glad to fight at your side should that time come.
