I have an inquiry for anyone willing to answer:

Is it common - in your opinion - to speak of lustful acts openly and crassly? There was so much I did not know before entering into my third betrothal and following marriage. I believe if the subject wasn't seen as wholly impolite, I might have been better prepared.

(Though that is unlikely. Reason: Ramsay Bolton.)

Of course I cannot agree with being crass. Surely there is a happy medium?

Cultures are vastly different in their interpretations of love.

You're certainly right. I don't mean to sound dismissive, I'm just trying to understand more of how humans think.

I can only tell you how I see it. If I love someone, if we are bound together by marriage, I will be true to them and I expect the same in return. Our children will be absolutely legitimate.

I suppose we're quite different, then. If there's something I can't give to Seel, I'd be cruel if I kept him from finding it with somehar else.

Because it's unharish. It's something friends do for each other. As much control as I have over him, even I don't have the right to ask him to give up a partner. Besides, I know I can't be everything, and if somehar else fills a gap, I can't keep him from being whole. He has other friends and so do I, but I've never doubted where his heart lies.

Friends in your world...are that close? (She is amazed and blushing. Not that she has many friends in Westeros. Here is another matter entirely.) Why can't you be everything? Friend, lover and so forth. Then again, I would never consider lying with any of my friends.

I suppose so. I've never really thought of it as "close." It just is.

I'm not perfect. I do what I can, but there are things I can't do and somehar else can. I'm not...rough, let's say, for example. Somehar else might be and if that's what he needs, then I don't have the right to deny that to him. I wouldn't want to, regardless, since it would probably mean hurting him to tell him no.

Then I can understand why you find certain human practices odd.

Yes and no. It's odd here, with so few of us. I wish I could help him in some things, but I know I can't. Or sometimes he just wants a different partner or he'd like to show a friend he cares about them. There's nothing wrong with that. I'm not hurt because he went to somehar else. It's rather expected that we both would, sometimes.

This is the second world I have visited and I have been blessed with a substitute family in both, yet I haven't had any lovers. I sometimes wonder what that would be like. I would prefer you think kindly of yourself. You could have taken offense to the questions I posed, but you explained your beliefs and practices calmly. I understand your way of thinking better and I can see benefits to it.

There's not a reason to be offended. If I went insane every time there was a disagreement I'm sure I'd have been kicked out of my place long ago.

You do not possess that sort of character. I have known those who will strike another for breathing wrong; for existing.
