There's a creature here who killed my friend, and injured my brother. I don't know what it calls itself, but my friend describes a woman with eyes as black as pitch.

[ His eyes are far too bright to be human, a feral fire lit behind them ]

Have a care for yourselves, for it has, apparently, killed at least once and tried to do so more than that.

[ And then almost absently ]

[ And you know, permission to torture and play with his prey but he won't say that aloud ]

[After observing the rest of the public conversations and debating with himself for a bit, he decides to respond with a simple question.]

Is there something you think this is going to accomplish?

[ Somewhat terrifyingly cheerfully ]

It will make me feel better, and teach it to leave people alone.

If she wasn't deterred by everyone else dealing with her, why would you be any different?

[And he's actually not sure she wasn't deterred, considering the attacks stopped.]

And sure, it might make you feel better, but only until the demon decides to go after you and the people you care about out of revenge and the cycle continues.

It had not touched my kin before. It won't do so again.

[ Smiles should not have so many teeth ]

I have had far worse than it try.

I feel like you didn't listen to anything I just said.

[He says it flatly, not particularly annoyed, just kind of exasperated.]

[ There's something almost apologetic in the shrug ]

I heard thee. But my brother is my concern now, and my friend. [ And not so much anyone else, is implied ]

And you're genuinely unconcerned that you might be bringing a greater threat against them by publicly claiming them to be the reason you're going after this demon, should she decide to retaliate?

[He's rarely this blunt, but as far as he's concerned there's too much going on in this place to be starting up more unnecessary fighting after the issue has died down.]

I don't see how any of this is a good idea, unless your actual goal is much closer to simply being revenge.

[ A slow, amused curl of his lip at the thought ]

I would like to see it try against Maedhros. It wouldn't last very long. [ Unless Maedhros got bored, maybe ] And the Lady Margaery will be protected, now we know it is here. But I'll not let a demon roam these streets without it understanding that there are those here who can stop it.

The initial incident was two weeks ago; I'm pretty sure people have already made it clear that there are individuals here that can stop her.

[So Lance is less and less convinced this is the point of things, but he's also becoming pretty sure there's no point in continuing this discussion.]

But fine. Hopefully your desire to show whatever capabilities you have is worth the potential consequences that might come of it.

Two weeks, while I waited at the temple for my friend. It stopped because it was bored. It will strike again.

Are you sure she stopped out of boredom and not because someone handled the situation?

It's a demon. 'Talking it down' doesn't work. They stop when you kill them. It is merely looking for another opportunity.

By that logic if you kill her she'll just come back, and then continue looking for an opportunity.

[But it's clear this isn't going anywhere.]

Still, I get it, you aren't going to listen to me. But hopefully someone you will listen to will actually give you good advice instead of encouraging this behavior, before anything terrible comes out of it.

[And with that, he disconnects.]
