Seeking redemption was my entire goal before I was brought to this place. But I've lost my path recently... I ought to set myself in the right direction again.

Since I've committed numerous atrocities in my past, it's only fair that I start, first, by revealing them all here and now. After that... I don't know what I'll do, but I'll have to figure out something.

1. I used to frequently beat up and bully the person who became my best friend.
2. I ~~have~~ ~~had~~ ~~have~~ had wrongful feelings toward my best friend's beloved.
3. I'm constantly jealous of my best friend, to the point where I often loathe him.
4. I tried to stab my best friend in the back.
5. I stole some crystals.
6. I threatened to kill a little girl.
7. I betrayed all of my friends by fighting against them.
8. I aided in the kidnapping of my best friend's beloved.
9. I purposefully skipped my best friend's wedding.
10. I still sometimes feel a deeply overwhelming moral conflict.
11. In the middle of an endless war, I knocked out and kidnapped several of my allies.
12. I failed the dragoons, my kingdom, and my family name in every way possible.
13. I once dressed like this: Open attached image.

I can surely keep going, but this may be enough of a start. Forgive me. I truly regret all that I've done.

Well. At least you're trying to do something about it?

Trying being the operative word at the moment. I know that confessing to it all isn't nearly enough, and yet... I had to get it all off of my chest, first. I'm not even sure how to begin truly redeeming myself in action, though I know I must.

Well, I'm gonna assume that it's unlikely your friend or his girlfriend will show up. So maybe do nice things for people around here?

They certainly haven't appeared so far, and I've had similar doubts. She's also... technically, she's his wife by now.

Anyway, I could try that. I'm not very used to that sort of thing, but it might be time that I start.

Some of us are doomed to be by ourselves here forever.

My advice would be to start with little things.

Like say someone is carrying stuff back from the shops, but they've got too much. Offer to help 'em carry it back to their place.

Something as simple as that? Could it work?

Well. I'd be willing to try it. I don't have much other choice, and... I'd like to see what comes of it. It seems simple enough to do, anyway.

It's a start. Where you go after that is up to you.

A start is better than nothing, which is what I had before. So thank you for that. Even if it's something small, such as improving someone's day... the more I do such a thing, the better, right?

It'll probably feel awkward at first, but if you've faced down manikins, you can do this.

I guess that's true, when you put it that way. The manikins were difficult opponents, perhaps the toughest I've faced... well, aside from the Null. But this surely can't be harder than dealing with them...

See? Facing down the Null: hard. Random acts of kindness? easy.

I'd often think of it in the opposite way, but... the Null weren't like most other enemies.

The Null were assholes. Hard to kill assholes.

Extremely hard to kill. I don't look forward to ever facing them again, but I'm sure it's inevitable, someday.

I'm sure it is, too.
They'll be back.
It's not a matter of if, it's when.

At least this time we can be somewhat better prepared.

But, how?
No one's planning anything or coming up with a battle plan.
At least the last time, we had some warning.
This time, they'll probably just.
Show up.
And then we're fucked.

The Guard has discussed it, but you're right that we should do more. Of course, if the attack is as sudden as last time... there really isn't much we can do. At least we know how to fight them this time, we're aware of their weaknesses. That may help.

We know what their weaknesses were then.
They've probably figured out a way to change by now.

That's all too true. The Null are extremely adaptable and intelligent, from what we've seen of them. Which doesn't bode well... we might spend all of this time preparing and have it be all in vain. Still, it's better we do something than just await the inevitable.

Exactly.
We know what they were capable of.
And they know what we're capable of.
They're probably already taking us into the equation.

Which means the next encounter has the potential to be particularly devastating. We must put up an even harder fight than many of us might realize.

Most likely.
And next time, we'll have even less warning than we did the last time.

Unfortunately, I suspect you're right. It's all too likely to happen like that. We can't trust anything when it comes to the Null.

Oh, we can trust in one thing when it comes to the Null.
And that it's they're planning for what comes next.
We need to do the same.
