Video 7 - Sewing Shop

[the video opens on Margaery in the Sewing Shop, dressed of course to impress and show off her work. what is unusual is that she's holding a sword in her lap and that the Shop looks like it's been scrubbed from ceiling to floor and everything in between.

what may also be unusal to those who can notice such things, there have been magical wards placed around the Shop to deter violence and keep certain types of beings out.

Margaery smiles welcomingly at the camera, although those who know her well enough can tell that it's a little forced]

Hello, everyone! The Sewing Shop is open again to attend to your needs. Can you not find what you're looking for in the shops? Or are you just plain sick of wearing the same things day in, day out? Come in and request whatever you need. The only payment I require is a bolt of fabric from Tranquility.

I also give sewing lessons to those who wish to learn.

My stories also take place over years, sometimes decades, or longer! [ He points out, amused ]

Well, not this one, although he was gone for weeks, and poor uncle Fingolfin was sure he had been killed.

But it is easier to see the light at the end, when one lives long enough to see the end.

Decades! Yes, I suppose it would be easier to see a happy ending after decades have passed.

I would have liked to have seen Westeros' happy ending. Unfortunately, all I can do is give my well-wishes to those who will make it.

Centuries, in some cases.

[ He says softly ] But that is the courage of Men, I think. Very few of you ever live to see the dawn, but you hope for it, and strive for it, all the same.

I suppose. I did what little I could during my time as Queen. I wanted to help Tommen grow into himself and throw off the yoke of his mother, but I never had the chance.

[bythewaves]

One never knows how one's actions might turn out - even the small things! But you should not blame yourself for things you cannot help.

[roseofthetyrells]

But there are so many things I couldn't help. And now I wish I could have.

[bythewaves]

All wish that. [ He says softly ]

But we cannot change the past - only the future.

[roseofthetyrells]

I suppose so, but. The Lannisters were horrible. We knew they were horrible, but we still kept the alliance.

In the future, I'll be wiser in my alliances.

[bythewaves]

Sometimes you must, and sometimes it backfires. [ He grimaces ] But it always pays to try and examine your alliances carefully, yes - at least you know that, now!

[roseofthetyrells]

[she gives a wry twist to her lips] Backfires. There's a word for it. Wildfire would be more appropriate. The only thing I can say for it is that at least it was quick. And I'll never think that such monsters can be bargained with or persuaded ever again.

[bythewaves]

I am grateful for your sake that it was! And we all would like to believe that people would not also be monsters, so I do not fault you for that wish.

[roseofthetyrells]

We would like to believe it, but it is often not true. But now I know there are only three options when dealing with a monster. Defy it, resist it, . . . or kill it.

[bythewaves]

Even so.

[ Maglor smiles grimly ]

Well, you can work with it and hope you esacpe it's claws too, but that seldom ends well, I find.

No, it certainly doesn't. That's what we tried with the Lannisters and look how it ended for us.

[bythewaves]

It seldom ends well for any, I think. [ He says sadly ]

I have lived long enough to see that. Poor Bor! He served us loyally and well, but Uldor betrayed us all and for that, his people suffered also, all cast out together, and with no reward from Morgoth, although we could have told Uldor that.

These are Men who betrayed you?

[bythewaves]

Ulfang and his sons, yes. They swore themselves to the service of my brother Caranthir, but in the Battle of Unnumbered Tears they betrayed us. Ulfang I slew myself, but their treachery delayed us from coming to Fingon's aid in time, and quite possibly cost us the war. Ever since then the Easterlings have been shunned by the Edain and Elves alike, although even in that battle, Bor's sons fought long and hard by my side.

[roseofthetyrells]

I'm so sorry that happened. Battles can be won or lost in a moment. [her expression goes far away. when she comes back to herself, she says] After all, had the Tyrell armies not come to the aid of the Lannisters when they did, Stannis Baratheon would have won the battle of the Blackwater and been crowned king. I now wish we'd let him have it.

[bythewaves]

[ He nods ]

All battles hinge often on the very edge of a knife - easy to tip one way or another. And you did not know, then, what would happen!

[roseofthetyrells]

[she sighs] No. I didn't. I was too blinded by my ambition for a crown.

[bythewaves]

You were young.

[ He smiles at her gently ]

You still are! It is the place of the young to be ambitious.

[roseofthetyrells]

[she sighs] I suppose. But I didn't care that Joffrey was cruel. I cared that he got me what I wanted. What does that say about me?

[bythewaves]

"Only that you did not pay proper attention, and that you were young and sonewhat petty. I would only worry if you did not learn from your mistakes!"

[roseofthetyrells]

Paying attention to my surroundings and those in them was something my grandmother drilled into me from an early age. I thought I could. . . mitigate the worst of Joffrey's nature. And I have learned. By whatever gods may be out there, I have learned.

[bythewaves]

Perhaps you might have done, given enough time. There's no point in dwelling on that now, though. [ He smiles at her gently ]
