t w o . ( TEXT ) . we stood up, we stood up
General Notice:
I'm looking for people with powers to run some tests on. It involves being observed using your abilities, but that's it. Can't exactly give you much for it, unless you need an alarm system.
First wave of testing will take place in a week near the colosseum. There may be second or third waves in future. Testing is expected to take several hours overall.
Any questions?

[ Pause, pause, clicking fingers against keys. ]
My theory is that - because no one here is from my world - my enchantments need reworking. I can only guess that I need to reconsider the way powers work.
[ And that? Is going to take a while. Rethinking your entire foundation is not a simple task. ]

You could say I want to know what wavelength they operate on. My power lets things respond to other powers.
... Hate explaining this, honestly. [ Because how niche. ] Other words: if someone can produce fire, I can make a weapon that will absorb that fire and use it. Or make something that'll let someone know if their powers are on the fritz.
... But I can't do that until I know more about people's powers down here.

... Maybe I should have offered a weapon as compensation. [ ... Not sure that's what you were meant to get from those musings, Kate. ]

We weren't that bad... were we?
[ Yes, yes you were. ]

I don't remember anyone dying, at least.

... She doesn't either, come to think of it. ]
The place is still standing and everyone seems to be alive. It's a better situation than I'd expect after-- shit, how long was it?
[ Because most of those celebrations blurred into one long ass-drunken day. ]
