Being away from home, away from your friends and family... It isn't easy.

( Okay, Serah, you're helping Tranquility, not Sorrow. Get to the point. )

Sometimes we forget to talk about these things. So, um, if you want, you can talk to me about it. Or anything else that's bothering you. Maybe it'll help you feel better?

( She hopes. She's kind of banking on it, really.

I guess it depends on the person and their problem.

Doesn't talking about your loved ones that aren't there just going to make you miss them more?

Talking and remembering them is only hurtful. Especially when you can't see them.

[odinbolt]

Sometimes. But don't you have memories of people who aren't there that make you feel better too? For example, my fiancé, Snow, and I haven't seen each other for a long time now. And I miss him a lot. But telling other people about him still makes me happy because I revisit the things that make me love him. And I feel happier knowing that my friends here have learned something about the people important to me back home.

I don't understand.

It's only momentarily happiness and in the end it will just remind me that I'm alone here instead of with them.

[odinbolt]

( Hmm. )

Then I guess we work differently, huh?

( And that's okay. The world - or multiverse - wouldn't be any fun if everyone had the same reactions, right? )

I once knew a woman who thought like you. She was already over thirty but acted like a young girl, she lived all alone surrounded by a rose garden. She held choir practice to all boys in town and would bake apple pies for them.

When she was young she had a lover who she cared for very much. To him she was nothing but a summer fling and abandoned her. But even after all the years she continued to love him and visited the memories she had. She lived in her own far away kingdom away from pain and sadness.

( It's a strange story, but Serah reads it, and she feels for the woman, but she's also glad that this woman could find the good from the memories that she had. )

She sounds very sweet. How did you know her?

She was the sweetest. I used to sing in her choir for a while.

One day news about her past lover's death reached her. That's when she realized that there was no such thing as far away kingdom and memories couldn't protect her from the pain. She locked herself in her bedroom and cut her wrists. Me and other boys found her in time, though.

After that she married town's doctor and quit the choir meetings.

I heard she died after few years from loneliness.
