I have a delicate matter I need to discuss with a lady; preferably one who comes from a modern era. (Since her era has been called "medieval" more than once. Surely humanity has progressed in this...?)

Every month, my cycles bring considerable pain. I thought perhaps the modern era had a better remedy for them?

Yes, it does. He was my second father.

There's Midol? It's a pill you take that helps with cramps. I don't know if they have it at the Clinic, but I guess you could always try the gods.

Are you from the same world?

Asking the gods for such a thing would be embarrassing.

No, he is from Arda. I am from a land called Westeros.

I dunno where else you'd find it. Maybe the shops?

Oh. That's too bad.

I will try there first before I resort to praying for relief.

He could return.

I could help you look? If all else fails, we'll find Tylenol. That's not specifically for cramps, but it's a pain reliever. It's better than nothing.

He could. [but she doubts it]

If I minded, I wouldn't have offered. Which island are you on?

I thought Sorrow was the one people went to about the Door?

I don't wish to have them brought here forcefully. There might be a reason they needed to go home. Death isn't the end for Elves.

Where exactly on the Southern island?

The northern tip.

They must answer for all of their actions and then, hopefully, rejoin their fellows on an island meant for them.

Okay, I'll be right there.

[there's a pause in replies]

That whole answering for their actions thing sounds scary.

I think if they are regretful, that makes a difference. The Valar do not seem cruel and they understand that Darkness has touched Arda.

(Darkness being Melkor/Morgoth and Mairon/Sauron.)

[three fourths of that went way over Laura's head, but she'll try to come up with something that sounds reassuring]

Regret is a sign of understanding. In some cases, second chances are earned.

(Sansa stands out with her rich auburn hair and cream dress. She is busying herself with a book, letting the sunlight warm her and help ease some of her cramping.)

Second chances. Yeah, I'd like to think that those can happen.

[and Laura arrives at the Southern island. Sansa stands out with that flaming red hair. Laura gets out of the boat and makes her way over to her]

Hi. Ready to do some shopping?

(A smile blooms on her lips despite the pallor caused by her discomfort. She gives a small curtsy, head dipping gracefully.)

I am trusting you to guide me. Where shall we go first?

[she smiles back and attempts to curtsy back, but knee-length pleated plaid skirts weren't meant for that]

The shops. Definitely the shops. We'll probably have to do some digging 'cause they seem to like to put the most useful stuff at the bottom of the pile, but if anywhere's gonna have Midol or Tylenol, it'll be the shops.

If we can find a list of ingredients, even, that would be useful. (She might not be able to read said ingredients, but someone should be able to, surely? Sansa walks to the path leading to the shops on this island.)

Those are curious names. Do they have other meanings?

Chances are, even if we could find a list of ingredients, we wouldn't find the stuff we needed. We're better off looking for the bottles of pills. The bottles should be about this [she holds her thumb and index finger about two inches apart] tall and round with flat tops.

No idea. I figure some advertising genius somewhere came up with 'em and named them that 'cause they sounded medical.

(She nods at the description, somewhat eager to see the pills (and, of course, to experience relief).)

They are strange names and that makes them easier to recall. I will gladly share what we find with you. (Being selfish is tempting, but her conscience is overwhelming.) Pain-killers could be useful in other circumstances too. We are always beset by monsters and injuries are far too common.

Yeah, they are. And, thanks. That's real nice of you. [Laura usually doesn't have problems, but when she does, she tends to be bed-bound] Yeah, they could be. Even if we find the Midol, it's probably not a bad idea to keep looking for the Tylenol.

...or any other medication that diminishes pain. (If they find enough of it, she is planning on visiting the Clinic and making sure they are suitably stocked.) I have lived in three worlds now and I know not to take any comfort for granted.

Yeah, there's uh. Motrin and aspirin and Advil and ibuprofen and Excedrin. Any of those would work. They should all be in the same kinds of bottles. [oh, the Clinic. that's probably a good idea] Three worlds? How did that happen?
