Hello? Can anyone hear me? Is anyone out there? It's dark out. I can't see anyone. Please tell me I didn't go through all that just to be alone again.

[There's a moment of Abigail crying.]

I was dead. Am I still dead, is that what this is?

[Being alone feels like hell to her.]

Hi Angus. Are you okay? Nothing bad happened to you after I..was gone? Almost everybody? Who's missing?

Only the people who are still out at sea, everyone else is back. I'm... I'm ok, I took Peanut and left after I found out. Can you tell me what happened?

[ He has a pretty good idea... there hadn't been any creatures around where they'd stayed that night, and there was only one murder suspect. ]

I'm sorry. I didn't mean for you to find out. I was hoping the body'd be gone before you got there. Thought maybe you'd think I just disappeared. [She pauses.] I died and came back.

[hellosirs]

I got that part.

[ Okay, that may have been a bit to abrupt. His tone gentles considerably. ]

If it helps, Miss, I'm a detective, I've investigated crime scenes and murder cases before. I'm not scared of stuff like this.

A bit young to be a detective, aren't you? 

[She still thinks of herself as a kid.] 

There's nothing to investigate. No crime. It wasn't a murder.

Yes, I am.

[ He states it matter-of-factly, and nods. As far as he's concerned, there's no reason his age should restrict his career! ]

But... but he killed you, didn't he? There weren't any animals around, except for Peanut, you definitely didn't die of natural causes, and he was literally the only other person there!

You should try to be a regular kid for as long as you can.

I asked him to do it.   It was like a suicide.   Or a mercy killing.

[ Angus swallows, and is quiet for a long, long time. He's used to locked-room murder mysteries, investigating thieves guilds, and tracking down people who don't want to be found. He's pretty far gone as far as being a regular kid goes, but something like this is completely outside of his realm of experience. ]

I... I'm sorry. That's... were you... were you sick? Or were you that unhappy?

Sick is a good a word for it.   I was very sad about things that happened in my past.   The stuff I can't change.   I couldn't stop thinking about it and I didn't have my friends to help with it.   I just wanted to stop thinking about it.
