[It's been a while since Alphys was on the network just on her own- she doesn't tend to get on video in front of a bunch of people except for emergency situations (like when the Null flooded the city last year). But now the feed starts with her hands pressed over the camera as she arranges her phone, pulling back after a few seconds to show her more in frame. Seems she was still setting up the recording. She's sitting at her desk in the Lab, the chalkboard behind her blank, giving a little wave.]

So uh, h-hey there, Hadriel! This is Alphys. Or well, I'm Alphys. Dr. Alphys, but just Alphys is fine, uh--

[She pulls at some papers on her desk to try and make herself look busy. Why is doing announcements so hard?]

Anyway! So some of you might, uh, know me in that I run the lab here. Kind of. I help run it with a lot of people! But uh, m-my specialty is actually in mechanical engineering, and uh, more specifically robotics. And uh, I've noticed recently there are actually a lot of robots here? All of a sudden?

[She waves her hands in front of her, palms out from her chest.]

Not that it's a bad thing! And I, uh, totally want to help- I've done repairs on plenty of robots here before and I have some, uh, s-spare parts and stuff like that, but... I was wondering if anyone else has experience in, uh, that sort of thing? I used to know a couple of people, but I think, uh... just about everyone's gone home.

[Alphys looks down for just a moment, her head spines wilting, before she perks back up with her trademarked lopsided smile.]

So uh! If anyone knows anything or just wants to lend a hand or is a new robot and needs something just let me know!! I'm down at the lab! So! Yeah! Bye!!!

[And then there's a few more seconds of her grabbing her phone and just kind of squeezing it until the feed cuts. Might've been nice to know where the lab is, but. She tried.]

[That's just kind of how humans are, tbh. But thankfully the magic talk is a draw away from all that.]

All kinds of ways! Monster magic involves mostly bullet patterns or signature moves, like- l-like how skeletons make bone bullets or Undyne's cool energy spears. And then there's colored magic, like how some will only interact when you're moving or some can hold you still or-- there's a lot of kinds. And that's just the stuff from my world, I've seen SO many other cool ones w-while I'm here. Like Lup's fireballs or Rosie's ice ki. It's amazing.

Signature moves? Like a final strike, like in martial arts? And I've never heard of magic that depends of motion. Where I was from, magic used to be something that was innate. You were either born with the ability to learn magic, or you weren't. I haven't actually seen any magic at work here yet, but I'd love to.

Well, k-kind of! And, I mean.. you, uh, sort of are!

[She puts her hands on her hips, giving a weird sort of grin.]

I'm made of magic! So I am... I mean, you're seeing magic! Right now. It's what all monsters are made of.

[Tinya looks delighted]

Really? That's amazing! I've never heard of beings being made of magic before. How did--I hope this isn't too personal?--but how did you evolve?

[It's still kind of a foreign situation for Alphys, to see someone just so hype at the prospect of her entire existence. It's nice. Really nice, honestly. Her smile grows, her SOUL feeling jittery and excited in her chest, even if she has to beat down the immediate urge to lie just to answer all of Tinya's questions.]

Uh, well-- I'm sorry, I don't really know, uhm. There were just always two races, humans and monsters. We've just sort of, uh, a-always existed? I'm sorry that's not really an answer.

[She doesn't want to lose this so early just because she can't answer a few questions!]

[where Tinya's from, differences are to be celebrated. well. that's how it is for most people where she's from. there were outliers who disagreed]

No, it's okay! It's just that I've never heard of two sentient lifeforms existing on the same planet simultaneously. It's really interesting!

[don't worry about that, she's excited to know what she's learned already]

Oh, I-- really?

[That seems so improbable.]

Your world didn't have animals? Or do you mean like, uhm, a-advanced life?

Oh, sorry! I should've been more specific. Of course we have animals and things like that. I meant advanced life forms.

Oh, heh, yeah. No, we both uhm, l-live there. It seems like it's always been that way? I think the only person who would really know would be Asgore.

[He was here, once. She misses him.]

He's our King. And a Boss Monster, so uhm, the only one who was alive back then. Toriel might have an idea t-too. Not that they're, uh... here. Sorry.

No, it's okay! I was just curious. All of these other worlds are so interesting.

[She smiles.]

Yeah! It's been great to get to, uhm, k-know about other worlds, so...

[Oh, she came over here for a reason, maybe they should get to that.]

Oh, uh, right, so-- want me to show you around?

[she smiles back]
