Not having anyone around can really make you realise how much you're used to having company, huh?

[Julie gives a small half-smile, but it doesn't really follow up to her eyes. She shrugs one shoulder and huffs out a breath, looking away from the camera.]

This place is really getting in the way of shit I'm trying to plan, but uh-- Where was I going with this. Oh, yeah.

[She looks back to the camera. This time, the smile has a bit of extra warmth.]

I guess I'm looking for a roommate? I've been kind on my own here since R got out. I've got two spare rooms, and I don't really want to move because all my shit is here now, so...

[Another awkward shrug.]

Yeah, that's it. Hit me up if you're interested.

May I suggest you speak to Ianchus? He also lives alone and has been in want of company. I've visited him before, but I doubt it's quite the same as living with someone...

Ianchus? I don't... Oh, huh, I think I did speak to him once. [She remembers the name, in any case. It's a strange enough one to not forget too easily.]

And... yeah, company's nice and all, but it's not the same thing.

Perhaps I can introduce you to him properly? He's not without his eccentricities, [...like Yusuke's one to talk...] but he's one of the kindest people I've met within Hadriel. I'm certain you'll get along.

[She nods once.] I mean, yeah. I'm gonna trust you have some kind of filter for potential serial killers.

[... Right?]

He wasn't too bad when we talked.

I certainly wouldn't recommend the likes of Caedra.

[Since yeah, there are literal serial killers here, that's always a concern.]

I'll speak to him on your behalf. With any luck, he will be amenable to the suggestion.

The crazy demon bitch who killed like three people and summoned a load more demons to finish off the rest of us?

[Delivered in the most deadpan voice you could possibly hear.]

Yeah, she wasn't even on the 'maybe' list. I'd rather live by myself.

[that description is the most succinct summary of Caedra he's heard, honestly.]

Likewise. But not everyone is like that here, so I hope you find someone you can get along with.

[She laughs softly, tucking her hair behind her ear.]

There's plenty of people I get along with, Yusuke. I guess you never really know if you can live with somebody until you do it, though.

I suppose I've been lucky to have Akira here, in that regard. There was no doubt in my mind whether we would be able to live together well.

He's a good friend of yours back home? [God, that must be nice.]

Ugh... I wish Nora was here.

Yes. He arrived here before I did. We've been through a great deal both here and at home, but there's no one I'd rather have by my side in this situation.

[Gushing about his leader aside...]

There's still a chance the Door could bring her, isn't there? You mustn't give up hoping.

Yeah... I guess, but... do I really want her to be here? [In a lot of ways, Hadriel is safer than where they come from. But then again, does she really want Nora here so much that she'd wish her to be put under the kinds of pressures that the gods heap on them?]

I guess... it'd just be nice. But it's selfish to want something like that.

If it saves your friend from the terrible circumstances of your homeworld, I don't think that's selfish.

[Though that depends if Julie really sees this place as better or worse than home, doesn't it?]

I don't think being here is... that much better. At least back home, you know when you're safe and when you're not. When you're gonna go hungry and when you won't.

[She sighs, tossing her hair back over her shoulder.]

I think she'd hate it here.

[But death isn't permanent here, even with the dangers. That's what he thinks, but he remembers everything he went through with losing Ianchus, and he feels like it's hardly something to be joyous about. Death is death. No matter what comes after it, it's still painful.

In a small voice, he asks instead:]

Do you hate it here, Julie?

[Death isn't permanent where Julie comes from, either. It isn't the same, given the way that people tend to come back, but she would agree with at least one thing. Death is death, no matter what.

And, in Julie's mind, the way it works here is just all wrong.]

Don't know why I wouldn't. [She replies, her words entirely harsh in their honesty.] I want to go home.

[she looks apologetic]

I can't help you with a roommate, but I can come over to keep you company when I'm not on duty if you want?

I mean... yeah, if you want to? I'm not here all the time, or anything. It can get kind of weird just being there by myself.

[She tucks a lock of hair behind her ear.]

It'd just be nice to have someone be around when I came back, or like... someone I can bug in the middle of the night.

Why wouldn't I want to? And [she pauses] it can be weird being by myself, too. I'm used to the rest of the Legion being around.

[and she misses all of them. she'd even take the traitor, Andromeda, if it meant having someone from her world]

I understand. And let me--let me think about it. Moving in with you, I mean.

I-- Really? I mean, sure, think about it long as you want.

[Most people already have roommates, or are living alone because they choose to. She's not expecting people to be jumping all over this offer.]

I'm not noisy. [She grins crookedly.] I don't even snore.

All right, I will.

[she didn't really know that roommates were an option. she was directed to the apartments, so she chose an apartment]

Me neither. [she grins] I probably would want the occasional girls' night, where we could do each other's nails and hair.

[Tinya could have no idea how much Julie would love that, but maybe it shows just a little in the way her eyes light up at the suggestion.]

I mean... we can still do that, even if you didn't want to stay here. If you wanted. [Julie grins back.]

Don't have any booze to spice it up, but it'd probably be fun anyway.

[yes, she does notice that and grins back]

We could? That would be great. I haven't had a girls' night in I don't know how long.

[other than the attempt at one with the Legion girls that got interrupted by her mother]

That's okay. We don't need it to have a good time.

[There had been a couple of girls she'd enjoyed that kind of thing with. Serah. Lunafreya. But they were gone now and she finds she just misses having female friends. She misses Nora, specifically, but has been in Hadriel for long enough now to develop a certain level of cynicism about people she knows arriving and staying.

She's not going to pin her hopes on it.]

Nah, you're right. Hey, you like painting or anything?

[Tinya, too, misses having female friends. here, she's mostly spoken to much older men. in the Legion, she had Luornu as her best friend, but she also had the rest of the Legion girls to hang out with. she's not sure she wants any of her friends to come here, though, since she's not sure if coming here means that they're dead]

I've never actually tried! I'd like to learn, though.

I'm not too bad at it. [She guesses. She never did like the way Nora would show off her paintings and drawings, but she still let her do it, didn't she?]

I can show you, if you want.

Sure, that would be great! It sounds like a good way to spend time here.

[and goodness knows she could use more ways to spend time here and making a friend in the bargain makes it even more appealing]

Mm, I know. That's not what this is about. It's like-- More like I've started noticing the emptiness. I don't need to talk to someone all the time. It's just knowing someone's in the same apartment, y'know?

Yeah. I think I do.

[It's one of the things he misses most about the team. Not necessarily even talking to them. Just knowing they were nearby. Even just in the same space working on their own things.]

Kravitz feels a pang of sympathy. He doesn't know who R was to her- he never met him, for that matter- but he remembers how he felt when Taako left.]

Where are you staying, if you don't mind telling me? It would be nice to visit from time to time.

Um, spire two, room one-oh-one? Just give me a heads up if you're thinking of coming. Being by myself so much is starting to creep me out so I'm not in that much.

[ Because the idea of actually answering her first question did pass his mind, but the idea of actually answering it is terrifying.]

Uh, I've been working with Rosie to try and replant some trees after they all got cut down so someone could build a massive floating dick extension.
