[Tyki is sitting in a mostly empty room, with a serious expression on his face. He's not one to really draw mass attention to himself or make a show of things like this. But Hadriel calls for drastic measures. While he doesn't really think of the gods as gods at all, and he doesn't think there's anyone here currently that could actually kill a Noah, he still has to think of the future for his family. And while he's alone for now, if another member of his family arrives here he wants to be prepared for things to go their way. So he's been working on a plan of sorts.

Be helpful. Be kind. Forge a better white side, a Tyki suited to Hadriel and it's citizens. Doing whatever he can to make friends for the sake of the Noah family's needs. And now it's time to set those plans into action.]

I'm not one to talk about my home, or the war going on, but we've had some trouble as of late and I think it's only fair to prepare people for what might be coming. [Tyki sighs, and shakes his head.] I've made friends here, and I want everyone to be safe. And with what might follow me from my home, that can't happen if we're not careful. [He pauses, for a moment, before continuing on.] My name is Tyki Mikk, that much is true. I am a member of the Portuguese prime minister's family. And I'm also an agent working against the Black Order. While religion can be a source of tradition and joy, in the wrong hands it has a dangerous power to corrupt and rule. And that's what the Black Order is, the catholic church militarized and made occultic. They've been known to kill children to keep them from running away. They won't even let their soldiers die, they reuse them in artificial bodies against their will. There is no fleeing from them, a draft into their numbers is until death. These soldiers, called Exorcists, wield a supernatural weapon called Innocence. They think god gives it to them. Please, be careful. They're usually brought into the flock quite young, and indoctrinated at any cost. It's not their fault, but they're more than willing to kill for their cause. And if you're not with them, you're possibly going to be seen as an enemy. [Tyki bows his head, and the video ends.]

[Political and religious intrigue? Consider him intrigued. He's also too polite to actually let any of that show. That aside, though, he's not a fool to the kind of danger that conspiracies can bring about, considering he lost his own family to one.]

It's kind of you to warn us. I would hope the Gods curb any effort at a mass takeover; they tend to like to be able to control our fear and anger, and I doubt they'd like to pass that task on to anyone else.

[Such a gentleman. Tyki isn't adverse to giving out more information, with his own careful twist on it, of course. He's not going to be careless about things, but if he's too tight-lipped no one will trust him.]

While they may like such things, I'm not sure what level of control they really have over the situation. It's better safe than sorry, or so some say. [Tyki shakes his head.] Not a formal organization, but my family has sworn themselves the enemies of the Black Order. More so now that one of our own was murdered by an Exorcist.

[This is...a lot. It's also mildly suspect, based on Nate's experience with people who like to head things off in a public way by setting themselves up as a trusted individual. Being pretty well versed in ancient, religiously affiliated cults and the kind of crap they pull he doesn't doubt they exist in other worlds, but he also doesn't really see the point in someone showing up on the network just to vilify another party without prompting.

Nate is sure that if every mercenary were given a head start on first impressions, they'd make him sound like a sociopathic mass murderer.]

It is terrible. And before I arrived here, I would have said that they were all beyond saving. But in this place, perhaps there's a chance at redemption even for the most broken of child.

[ Did someone say Order? Oh, Black Order. Either way, they sound a lot like the Order she knows: a religious organization with too much power that uses children. ]

What is this Black Order trying to accomplish? [ There's often a goal in organizations like that and, given he mentioned they meddle with the occult, it could be anything. ]

I think their goal has two parts, honestly. The goals of the Exorcists are to protect the world from the Akuma monsters, a frightening creature made from the souls of the dead. Which is noble entirely. I don't begrudge them that at all. But the goals of the church now, or more accurately the higher ups of the church, seem to be to control the population through religion. And they're using the Exorcists to do so, enforcing through violence if needed. [Tyki sighs.] I could be wrong, honestly. Maybe they think they're doing the right thing, and that human loss and enslavement is fine if it means protecting people. But somehow, it just doesn't seem that way to me.

This Black Order, what do they believe in?

There are some like them back home. They call themselves the Scarlet Crusade. I've never fought them, but I've heard stories.

[Good for her! Not on the frowning bit, but Tyki took a while to get used to his phone too.]

They believe in a god that's written out to be entirely confusing. On one hand, he's a kind father who loves his flock and wants them to be saved. On another hand, he's a monster that demands blood for even the simplest of sins. When such conflict is to be had about one deity, it's hard for the followers to know what's real and what's not. The church tends to see this god as a being of absolute control, who's orders must be followed entirely. But who translates these orders is what complicates things further. [Tyki shakes his head.] If the heads of the church speak for god, and they give orders to soldiers of immense power, they need to be good and honest so things can be handled fairly and safely. But it's not working that way now.

[The worst part, or best, is that he's telling the truth entirely. The Black Order is corrupted and awful. But then again, so is the Noah family. Just two sides of a horrible coin.]

The Exorcists, for the most part, are good people. They just want to protect others and do the will of their lord. But when good people are tortured and tormented, when they don't think beyond what they've been told, when they're confused... That's when things are dangerous for everyone else.

I'm not sure. We could be close enough, unfortunately. It's hard to simply guess on the basis of religious insanity and occultic soldiers.

Do those groups follow any specific deity?

Perhaps there are. That's why I said to be careful, the Exorcists aren't bad people in the least. But they're still potentially very dangerous. I'd like to think that there's some good in the church besides the soldiers and their intentions, but... [There's a pause, then. He's trying to think of how best to put it.] They don't even pay them. They're for lack of a better word, slaves. And perhaps I am biased, but they killed a member of my family who opposed them. They're not bad people, but they're also not safe people. That's the problem with the situation. Unsafe people with supernatural power and a strong dose of desperation. That can lead to many horrible losses.

[He's shocked almost at how much of the situation he finds truthful. There are many good children among the Exorcists. Nice kids that he would and sometimes does get along with, aside from the pesky war issue.]

It's complicated. It always is in war. I can't make you believe me, but I can at least pass on the warning. Others have had people from their home worlds arrive. And not everyone comes from such a blood stained place as I do.

[Tyki nods, wondering why there's an uncomfortable feeling at having Sal see this at all. It's Sal and Kettara that make him question everything. Having real friends can sometimes be a burden to his goals, and he doesn't like having to blur the sides of himself or think beyond black and white.

But sometimes, with people like Sal, like Kettara, like Allen back home? They make him struggle. And they make him blur the lines.]

It is. They think they're doing god's work, they mean well, but it's an army of forced soldiers who can't really be trusted to even consent to what they're doing. It's a mess of a place, lad. Full of questionable people and tactics. You're clever, you've got good sense, but if you meet anyone from there still try to take care. It's hard to be cautious when your enemy is a friendly young man or woman who's honestly concerned for your well being and wants to save you.

[she already distrusts religion, thanks to her ordeal with the Faith of the Seven and her exposure to the so-called gods here, so she's not surprised to hear that religion is being used as a cudgel in other worlds, too. disappointed, but not surprised]

I am all too aware of how religion and faith can be misused in the wrong hands, that something which should be a source of comfort becomes a source of conflict instead. This Black Order sounds truly odious. May we not have to deal with their presence in the first place, but if so? I will do what I can to assist.

[Tyki sighs, and shakes his head.] They're cruel people, using the broken to do their bidding. And those broken have weapons that can kill in mass. The best we can do is be prepared for it.

History is full of examples of how religion can be misused and abused. Most people where I'm from have abandoned it completely. Do you think that there's a good chance of people from the Black Order following you here?

Religion at it's best is a force of good to guide simple people who aren't capable of understanding concepts too great for them. But it's only as good as it's leaders, and it's far too easy for corrupt people to take control. And that's what's happened with my world's Black Order. [Tyki shakes his head, but it's an odd motion that doesn't read as no.] That's the problem. While I haven't seen direct proof of Exorcists walking among us, the fact stands that it's not an issue of one person per reality. As more people from the same world are pulled here, I'm starting to think it's on purpose. And that these... [Tyki pauses, he hates even saying it.] Gods are orchestrating it, for the sake of gaining more from us. And none can pull more emotions than a hoard of brainwashed child soldiers killing in the name of their lord.

[That is one hell of a name. And the person says he's an Elven warrior? This is too good, he really likes this set up. He's always glad to meet people that aren't human, it gives him a freedom to react without his Noah instincts kicking in.]

It feels all but unprompted even with recent events taken into account and while she does have some questions, what he's saying isn't too far outside of every horror movie she's ever seen.]

[Tyki sighs, and shakes his head apologetically. He looks humble and perhaps a bit embarrassed, and he reaches his hand up and rests it against his face for a second before continuing. He's already talked to people and gotten some ideas on how this has been absorbed by the citizens of Hadriel, so he has a feeling on what direction to go with in his conversation with Julie.]

Yes, I'm alright. I was worried about something I'd noticed, and felt like I needed to give people a heads up. However it seems that it's just caused undue stress on people. [He smiles, just barely.] I don't usually make videos like this, but when I do my best intentions seem to get away from me and entirely out of hand.
