✘ Round 9 | [Audio]
Greetings, residents of this city-prison. Now that we have been transported to a new land, an environment that I imagine must be significantly harsher for most of you, I feel that it now may be a pertinent time to make an offer.
I am not bothered by this climate; in fact, I thrive in it. [He's not going to switch on the video and show why; even after years of being stuck here, Glacius is still wary about how and to whom he reveals himself.] So, I am offering my services as a hunter and forager to those that may be worried about their abilities to provide for themselves in the long-term. There is wildlife here that can be hunted for their meat, pelt, and parts; I can procure and deliver such items to you, should you need them. I estimate that I could feed a handful of you every couple of days without risking overhunting; I am capable of providing more, and every day at that, but we do not want to abuse and deplete what resources are naturally available to us. [Every hunter should know how to respect the lands, after all—especially when they do not have not-so-benevolent god-beings to magically manifest things for them. Glacius has always tried to remain self-sufficient from them wherever possible; now it is time to help others do the same.]
So ask of me if you have need, and I will manage the logistics of providing as much I can without overhunting. I already hunt for my partner and I and regularly patrol to be sure that no threats prowl too close to us, so this is not far out of my way.
[He seems like he might leave it at that, but after a moment he adds on:] Ah, and as far as plants go... they exist, as I imagine most of you know by now, but they are sparse. I have managed to absorb nutrients from some of them, but you are likely better relying on the orchards and perhaps the gardens should you make an arrangement with their owners. I have also determined that water is available deep under the ice of frozen bodies of water, but I am not certain whether or not it needs to be purified to be safe for your consumption.
So these are my findings and my offers. Rest assured, we can survive just fine without the absence of the gods, and I will do what I can to make it so.

[A pause, then a sad little sigh. Glacius still misses his friend dearly, but he knows it is important to try and work through this. If he can spread word of the good she did, that's all the better.] Her name was Emily Davis. On the outside she was proud, stubborn... but that fierce heart beat so strongly for her friends. She would not stand to see them be hard on themselves, nor would she stand to hear anyone else slander them... myself included. [The alien gives a shaky little laugh.] She was a large part of the reason why an outsider like myself... felt like I could actually manage to fit in here, at least at times.
Some people found it hard to get along with her... but once you managed to worm your way into her heart, she'd be sure you saw your own value. [Much like himself; cold and stoic on the outside, but fiercely, staunchly supportive of those who win him over.]
audio
[she fears perhaps she's overstepped her bounds before he begins to speak. and she listens carefully] She sounds like a good person. Everyone needs someone to come to their defense now and then, even if you're being defended from yourself. I'm sorry that I never had the chance to meet her.
But [she hesitates a moment] may I ask why you consider yourself an outsider?
audio
The alien pauses, then gives a hesitant chuckle.] Because I am. [He very much wants to leave it at that, but if he's going to make deliveries to her and especially exchanges at some point, she'll have to know eventually. Perhaps it's better if he just tells her now, so that she knows what she's getting into.] It, ah... it is more than just me hailing from a different land, a different world. I am from a species that is very different from everyone else in this city, physically and culturally. It is why I am able to offer the services that I am, here; this new environment is much closer to the planet that I hail from than any other others.
audio
and as she has changed, she has learned how to accept and enjoy the differences in others, seeing that it's their intent which matters, not their rank or their birth or their titles. and she hears him out] I see! Have--have others been unkind? They should not be so. We all hail from different worlds and a form should carry little weight. Deeds should. And by making this offer, you prove yourself to have a good heart. This place must seem much more comfortable and hospitable than the others we've been to.
audio
[The sort of worse that involves wrongful imprisonment, torture, experimentation, and forced fighting–though the ice alien is not about to go into all of that, given that she did not ask to hear of his sordid past and that he can be cagey about sharing about it on a good day. Instead he tries to focus on the now.] So I always appreciate it when the people here offer kindness and understanding, such as you do now. I think that you are the sort of person that I would quite like to know. Perhaps we can talk more, once I have proved myself to be a creature of my word and brought you what I have promised?
audio
[she wouldn't want him to share it, not until she earns his trust on her own merits. that's another thing she's learned to quite like having: trust] Thank you for your kind words. And I feel very much the same, that I too would quite like to know you better! And of course we can, though please don't feel as though you can't talk to me before then. I'm always open to company and conversation.
audio
[A pause, the:] And as that sort of good usually comes from the people, this is another more roundabout way of saying that I appreciate people who act as you do. I would be glad to come by for the company if you'd have me... let me just handle this first. Do you need anything other than meat and pelts?
audio
As I appreciate those who act as you do, willing to help others with no expectation of reward aside from appreciation. And I'd be happy to have you when you're finished with your tasks. The meat and pelts should be fine, just perfect. Is there anything in particular you like to eat or drink? I'll try to have some ready.
audio
Regardless, bragging isn't what he's here to do. He's here to provide a service and hopefully forge a relationship that will help the people he's close to, in turn.] Ah... I have been acquainted with the human drink known as tea; though I drink it cold, or "iced" as you say, I am sure any flavor would be fine. There is no need to offer food as you are worried about your supply as is; I will bring some. Where shall I find you?
audio
she certainly wouldn't want to go into how awful Westeros could be, especially not with a new friend. such things are best eased into] Iced tea will be fine. Perfect as I won't have to worry about heating it up. Thank you for your kind offer of food. We did our best to stock up, but there are five of us total in our house. I live in Delight's housing in the eighth house.
audio
[Despite the adjustments he's made, he is still a fairly reclusive being when dealing with other species; walking into a den of humans sounds uncomfortable to him, perhaps even a recipe for trouble. He manages to catch this train of thought, though, realizing he's been trying to expect better from people... and the last thing he wants to do when trying to establish a new relationship is come off as incapable of interacting with her chosen associates. The ice alien clears his throat slightly, the sound echoing as it escapes all eight of the vents in the side of his neck.] Ah-h, forgive me, old habits as you humans say... if you think it will be fine then I will trust that. Just... maybe tell them that I am coming..?
audio
[and she's ridiculously friendly and social. and she may not know what Glacius looks like, but she can't imagine any of her housemates reacting poorly to anyone here, except likely Caedra and with her, they'd have good reason. someone come bearing fresh meat and pelts would be greeted with appreciation, no matter what his outward appearance might be] There's nothing to forgive. If they do come home, I'll tell them that we'll be expecting a guest and to conduct themselves accordingly, but they likely won't need the reminder.
