[ It's pretty unusual for Sharon to bother much with the network. Sure, she paid it some mind but it was usually just all bullshit; from complaints to claims of grandiosity or, worse yet, something new from their gods; it was the shitty social media of Hadriel and she wasn't the biggest fan. But things have begun to wear her down, leave her feeling heavy and empty and so unsure.. ] Does anyone have any tips on dealing with stress?

[ There's only a mild slur to her speech that indicates she's been drinking some but the clear howl of cold wind indicates that she's not doing this in the Speakeasy, she's out on her own, dealing with it in her own way. No, no, god, I missed out on the the damsel's love interest but I did get to read about the man interested in her. The asshole noble who wants her hand and the writer wasn't good enough to just hint that he was into shady shit and just blew the load right there to make you hate him.

I just... [ She laughs, shaking her head. She's lucky her parents never pushed those romantic ideals in her head, even if there's time she craves romance like the teenager she still is. ] I could not read beyond that. I felt like I was losing brain cells trying.

I ended up spending detention pretending to read a math book.

[laughing] Yeah, why am I not surprised? So, what kinds of shady shit was he into? And did he have a moustache to twirl?

[George secretly wants romance as well. there's the matter of her ridiculous, impossible crush that she does her best to repress at all times] You probably were. If you'd finished the whole thing, you'd probably be left unable to read anything but more stupid romance novels.

Hey, some of those word problems can be interesting.

No, but he was a ginger. [ The author liked tropes and the evil redhead seemed to be the one that pinged them the most, she's guessing. ]

And word problems are still math problems. [ God, the disdain in her voice. She did all right in mathematics but it wasn't up there in her favorite classes. ] I may not lose brain cells reading them, I'd just end up bored stupid instead.

And gingers are automatically evil. Unless they're Anne of Green Gables and then they're just too perky to endure.

[George was a straight A student until she hit junior high. then she stopped giving a shit and . . . was a B student. sometimes, she's too smart for her own good] Wouldn't be bored stupid kind of defeat the point of the class?

She is a little perky for me. [ Anne was a little to eager for Sharon's taste. ]

And I'd say it would but high school students seem bored stupid most of the time by their classes so...? [ An audible shrug. Sharon never bothered with high school because it didn't matter for her. She lived under a variety of alias' for her entire high school career so none of the grades would follow her. She learned, sure, but she didn't bother with tests or homework. ]

God, I know, right? With the joygasms over literally every single thing she saw and the renaming shit? [way too fucking perky]

You would not be wrong. How a teacher can take something like the buildup to World War Two and make it boring is beyond me. Must be something they teach 'em in college. "How to Strip All Life Out of Subjects, 101." [now that sounds like the way to go through high school. not the aliases or anything, that would be a pain, but skipping all of the homework and tests]

I would almost bet on it. Or teaching eventually just drains your soul of all hopes and desires. Those both sound totally plausible, honestly. [ ok ok she's had good teachers but, at the same time, the majority just managed to drone about the subject rather than engage and discuss. ]

Yeah, it's probably a little from Column A and a little from Column B. And it gets worse as you get older. [but she sat in on one of her father's classes on Shakespeare. he was funny, warm, engaging. so of course the girl she had a crush on had a crush on him]

...You know all this talk is actually making me miss having some crusty ass drone on. [ To have the normalcy of school, it was never an enjoyable experience for her but at least it had been normal. ]

Weird, the things you'll miss, right? Like, I'd fucking kill for a waffle with butter and real maple syrup. [she didn't miss the company that came with the waffle (except maybe Mason), but Der Waffle Haus did have good food]

God, that sounds good. Maybe the Door can shove a fully working and stocked Waffle House into the city.

[faux thoughtfully] It miiiiiight. . . . [and back to normal] But it probably won't. 'Cause we'd like it too much.

Oh yeah, stupid me; forgot our suffering is paramount.

Uh-huh! Our lives have to suck at all times, otherwise the stupid gods aren't happy. But are they ever actually happy?

I don't think that's something they're capable of, save for maybe Delight. [ She can't talk much about Love because she's never really spoken to it but the rest of them seem to exist in perpetual salty feels. ]

[a short laugh] Yeah, and we all know what happened to her. [salty would be one word for it. unfortunately "assholes with sticks wedged up their asses" is more than one word]

Does this mean if any of the gods are chipper dicks we should be wary? [ happy baddies are the worst kind lbr. ]<\small>

Prrrrretty much. Oh, and Hope is a prick. And a doofus. But mostly a prick who gets off on the fact that he's got us all over a barrel.

...God, I hate him, George. [ All of them, of course, but Hope and Sorrow top her list. Fear... She's not sure. ]

So do I. It's just--such a fucking hard thing to feel hope, real hope, to begin with. And here comes this asshole, eating it all up with that goddamn smirk on his face. [the other two, she . . . doesn't exactly hate them. but she can't say she likes them, either]

He's... Let's [ She laughs. This will sound ironic. ] Let's hope he's getting what he deserves right now.

I've foolishly decided to take up people on teaching me how to fight so I'll probably want to drink my pain and regret away tonight. [ if you want to hang out, fancy reaper kid who doesn't need sleep. ]

You have? That's cool. I keep meaning to get around to it, but most of the time, ehhh. Bad shit goes down, I'm in the Clinic. And it's a date. [rapidly] Not like a date-date, but. You know. [open mouth, insert foot]

It's always hard to find the time when we're just trying to survive, I get it. [ and that next bit makes Sharon laugh. A whisper in her head wonders if that slip of the tongue means anything but the rest of her has her doubts. ]
