(Her eyes are red rimmed and she looks like she has been forgoing sleep. There is a bunch of bound paper, neatly tied with pieces of leather, before her and she is using a quill to write. Yet the tip on the writing utensil has broken and so she is having to make another, sharpening it with a small knife.)

If it isn't asking for too much, will you please tell me your best memories? You needn't go into detail; you can even change some details if you wish. All I want to hear are good stories; stories that end with happiness.

(She's...lost. Sorry, she comes from a medieval world and a lot of those words are as foreign to her as a television or radio.)

I... I'm not sure I understand, but it sounds remarkable.

(She is silent, wincing as she tries to sort out her thoughts.)

I lost the majority of my adoptive family recently. They gave me joy - years of it - and now it feels empty.

I think we all know loss and there is comfort in us being similar, I suppose. (She tries to smile, but it doesn't reach her eyes.) Have you lost anyone while living in Hadriel?

No. I haven’t been here long enough to really get to know anyone else. Everyone I lost ... it was a while ago.

People say it gets easier with time. I'm not sure that's true.

But we can try.

I think ... in my experience, loss becomes easier to accept with time. But you never stop missing the people you lose, and you never forget them.
