This might be a long shot, but are there any mechanical parts around? Preferably ones that aren't frozen solid or rusting. I can't be picky, though, can I.

[He will take broken things too at this point.]

Also, does anyone have the ability to fly? I miss it. I didn't realize how much I relied on it until my freedom was revoked.

Again, I will settle for anything that can carry me faster than I can walk. I'll just pretend I'm flying or something.

Both my father and uncle taught me a lot about ship and droid maintenance. Uncle Luke had two droids and my father was a pilot. I spent a lot of my childhood on his piece of junk freighter

I can help you, if you'd like. I don't think we'll find much since this place is as bad as Jakku, but I'd like to try.

[ This is everything Kylo has wanted in his 29 years of life - to be accepted and understood by somebody, loved despite his strength in the Force instead of being scared. It thrills him that he may have the chance to do this with Anakin. ]

I'd like your help. We can try and, if nothing else, it will be a good bonding experience?

[He wants that. Family is so precious to him and that is such a terrible irony.]

[ Quality family time is something that Kylo hasn't experienced in years, since he was a child. Once he got old enough, his mother got back into her work and his dad started going out in the Falcon more often. Time at Luke's school didn't count as family time. The prospect of spending this time with somebody who will actually understand him is absolutely thrilling. ]

I'll be happy to show you, it's always clipped to my belt.

I think this will be as good of an experience as we can have on this planet. Do you want to meet soon?

Good. Keep it on your person at all times.

As soon as you are ready. Searching for the parts isn't going to be fun, but if we keep moving, we can stay somewhat warm.

I'll be ready as soon as I get my cowl and gloves.

[ Kylo tucks the phone under his belt and does as he said - puts on his outer robe and cowl along with his gloves. He has his helmet but chooses to leave it in his bedroom - Anakin doesn't need to see it and he sees no reason to wear it. It's not like he's trying to intimidate his grandfather or hide his identity.

He's out the door and hit by a blast of cold air; about half way, he second guesses his decision to leave his helmet behind. ]

I'm nearing your location.

[He has found himself a perch, a scarf wrapped around the lower portion of his face. His cloak does have a hood too, so at least he is able to keep some of his heat; the wind seems determined to steal all of it.

Before he gets the last message, he spies Kylo and leaps down, rolling himself onto his feet. Though his smile can't be seen, his eyes are strangely welcoming. Then again, maybe it isn't so strange. They are family and nothing could mean more to Anakin.]

[ He smiles at Anakin, something he doesn't usually do, something he doesn't think he's done since he was a child. But he's with the man he has idolized for years, somebody who understands him and won't just blow him off like his parents did. ]

Are you ready? Did you have a specific location in mind to search?

Likewise! [He finds it easier to smile in Kylo's presence; he feels more like himself and less like Vader.] Let's start with the main street and head towards the dump.

[Is he above taking a scooter? Probably not. He can make it better. Stronger.]

[ Kylo wraps his cowl tighter around his neck, following alongside Anakin. The weather here reminds him of the conditions on Starkiller Base... he hates it but is willing to endure it for time spent with his grandfather. ]

What do you have in mind? Are we looking for anything specific?

Engine parts. Wires, metal, anything that can be used to construct. [Anakin pushes a path through the snow with the Force, making their trek easier.]

I'm pretty good at making things up as I go.

Having a speeder or even something close to it would be nice.

[ This place is miserable without the technology and comforts he has been used to his entire life. ]

I would take my uncle's annoying droids, at this point. Even Threepio would be a welcome comfort. Getting used to life without that sort of thing has been rough, to say the least.

Wouldn't it? [He blinks and glances at Kylo in surprise.] Threepio is still around? You know I made him when I was a kid. He must have been through a lot.

[Anakin can relate all too well and he sighs.]

Whatever we make, we will share.

[ Kylo stops, eyes wide ]

I had no idea you made him... I don't know that they knew that, either... Or if they did, they didn't tell me. [ A pause ] Did you know Artoo, as well? He was the other droid my uncle had, he loved them both.

[ He's learned so much in such a short period of time despite the circumstances ]

Whatever we make will be great, I'm sure. If we can manage to find what we need.

I made him when I was living on Tatooine with my mother. Your great-grandmother. [He amends, smiling in wonder that he is, once again, speaking to his grandson.] I guess I was...about nine, though it took me longer than a year to piece him together.

Artoo on the other hand...

He was Padmé's droid first. After we were married, they tended to follow us around together and there were times we switched between them.

[There really is no wonder why Threepio became such a worrier.]

Let's just do what we can today and then get warm.

I've never built a droid, I didn't really have a need to. I know my way around servicing any ship, speeder, or craft, though. My father piloted a hunk of junk freighter and I spent a lot of time on it, learned how to take care of it and fly it. [ He loved that ship, hates it now ] I have my own starfighter, now, though there are officers to do the maintenance if needed.

[ He turns his shoulder against a burst of wind, hair now mixed with snow. He regrets not bringing his helmet. ]

Hopefully we're able to find some useful parts. I'll be pleased with whatever we can do in this place. Everything is so antiquated.

Come on, let's get under some cover. [Anakin listens to Kylo's explanation and he has a lot of questions, but he wants to be careful. Instead he focuses on getting them into a shed, breaking the lock so they can enter for a moment.]

I didn't really need a droid either. It was for my mother. I thought if I was ever able to explore the stars, I wanted her to have company.

[He smiles sadly.]

Let's warm up first.

[ Anakin's mention of his mother reminds Kylo of how he felt when he was a child, only wanting to fly through the galaxy with his dad and Chewie in the Falcon. Boy, have things changed since then. ]

And now you're stuck in this place, trying to build something with your grandson as company.

[ Kylo takes a look around the shed, grateful for the shelter from the snow and wind. ]

See anything that looks useful?

It could be a lot worse. [He smiles to himself, the expression small but undeniably warm with affection.] I hope you feel the same.

[But no pressure. In the shed, he rubs his upper arms to increase circulation.]

Hm let's see... [Looking around and moving the odds and ends, he finds some old engine parts - likely for the scooters.] These might be viable.
