Now that our possessions have ceased any conscious attempts to slaughter us, I'd like to take a moment to discuss the fate of the Fire Brigade with the city.
For those of you who are new or have never encountered it, we do indeed have one- however, its founder vanished some weeks ago. Add in a few other disappearances, and we find ourselves severely understaffed should another fire break out.
I’ve taken command of the unit for now and Oscar has maintenance of the fire engines well in hand, but either of us or any of our volunteers could vanish at any time- so I’m looking for volunteers. Anyone who would want to help in case of an emergency, anyone with an interest in machines, please consider joining up with the Fire Brigade. Anyone with a gift for controlling fire or water would be particularly welcome.
Varda willing, we will never need the extra hands- but we all know what Hadriel is like well enough by now. Better to be prepared than caught off-guard.
[For anyone interested, the sign-up page for the Fire Brigade is located here]

Dealing all right, Fingon-ya?
[voice]
Oh, well enough. Being nearly strangled by my harp strings was an experience, of course, but it could have been much worse.
[Unless Law means either Being the Last Noldo Here or Going Through Curufin's Firehouse Notes, of which the first is sad and the second is a headache. But hey, pick one problem to start with.]
And you, Law?
[voice]
I can imagine. Fine, for the most part. No luck exploring but at least others have managed to find some things.
[voice]
Aside from our new neighbors, you mean? Or has there been some other development I’ve missed?
[voice]
No, mostly that. It seems those of us who are trying to find them aren't as successful as the ones not actively trying to run into them.
[voice]
Isn't it always that way?
[Still. He considers that for a moment.] Like as not it's a coincidence- even those hunting spend more time about their own business. But they do have the advantage of terrain here. They could be seeing more of us than we do of them.
[voice]
Either way, stay on the alert. They may not be fire-related but your brigade might run into them all the same.
[voice]
[So cheer up, Law! It could be magic! Or some completely bizarre evolution that no one could reasonably expect you to think of, let alone recognize!
...Yes, that was meant to be reassuring, and not actually kind of worrying!]
We'll have to see how much of a brigade I have to command before we worry about that! But I'll help if I can- and perhaps I'll manage to get out of the city for a few days myself. I think I've been here too long.
[voice]
You're welcome to join me on a trek if you want. Two swords are better than one.
[voice]
I would enjoy that, thank you.
