[Rydia is always telling him to get out more, and meet more people, anyway. He's gotten… quite reclusive over time, and withdrawn. So he's certain she'll be pleased with him for doing this.]

That's an inspiring thing to say. I suppose I needed to hear it… thank you for that. You sound like a strong-willed person, which is a good thing to be in the darkest times. [And the sort of person who's been through a lot, too, because no one else would talk so firmly about clinging to hope like that.]
