Audio; Backdated to the 13th, Pre-Explosion

Hey. This is Yvry, not that that means shit to most of you. Anyway, a while back me and Deputy Pratt had this idea for an audio guide. More topics than just the newbie guide, but in short bursts.

Basically, something that'll keep you from having to read the entire network history, and isn't long and boring.

Anyway, here's that guide. It's mostly for new people, but I don't care who downloads it. If you've got any ideas for new topics, corrections, whatever else, I'm all ears.

Oh, and can we get one of you flying-types to go up and take a picture of the city from above? We need an accurate map, and go fuckin' figure, there's no satellites around here. Thanks.

This was incredibly useful, if not slightly passive-aggressively marketed, and I thank you for it. Are you often inclined to making such helpful things, or was this a result of boredom?

I can always appreciate those who seek and compile information. As such, this attempt is- admirable. Fairly accurate, even.

I'd be willing to answer questions if it further expands your guide. At this point, there's very little I'm inclined to keep from your kind.

and about the door stuff, is that all true? that you guys don't really know how to work it?

The Null attacked us because our proximity forces emotion where there would otherwise not be. They allegedly were once an organic race, who modified themselves into machines and erased their... organic weaknesses. Being near our species forced that weakness back onto them and they sought to eliminate the threat.

Delight... [It's hard to know what to say here. He wants to be truthful, but speaking harshly of her feels- wrong.] In a way, you're correct about her. In a way, you aren't. She was afraid of dying. More than the rest of us, I think- and in her own way, she tried to protect us from her own fear. She believed that if we permitted the Null to use us as a source of energy, we would be better off than if we had been annihilated.

She was wrong. I think she knew that, in the end. I think that was why she did what she did.

[Anyway-]

Technically, we are all genderless energy beings, but most of us- save for Love- abide by a gender designation for ease of communication. Ergo, Delight was a goddess.

To answer your questions: Confusion has not been in communication as much because she does not like you, nor does she like the Null- of the seven of us, she is the most vehemently opposed to them. She is a builder, like Tranquility, and built our original defense systems, which was a network of caves around our underground city. Her and Tranquility get along well. Her and others... not so well.

I know how to work the Door. To a point. To discuss the Door would be to reiterate conversations I have had dozens of times. I can communicate with the Door and I know about its history and power- outright controlling it is another matter, and one that I must be careful in attempting, or it will consume me. Some further information on exactly what it is can be found here.

I'm rather looking for a project, truth be told. But no, I'm simply more interested in finding out what kind of person you are.

There's only a few kinds of people who would make something like this, after all.

Oh my sweet Leviathan- yes! Thank you from those like me who are absolutely incompetent with those devices! When I returned here I managed to turn mine off numerous times as I was trying to read the informations.

I have a friend who can probably take aerial pictures, I will contact him as soon as possible!

[That sure is a huge chunk of reading. It takes him a while to get through it because he's taking notes. He'll have to re-record a few of the entries, but that's fine, they're short.]

new question though, and i might not even use this for an entry i just want to know: what was it like before the null attacked you guys? did you still go to different worlds or did you stay in one place? i guess just like, what was pre-war god world like?

I just saw a problem and wanted to solve it. Didn't have anything else going on. Plus I figured it was a good excuse to find out all this shit myself. Gotta be informed, you know? Hate making decisions without knowing all the specifics. Is that one of your types of people?

That's what it's for, making people smarter. So they can make decisions that aren't dumb. Not that yours are, but you know what I mean.

You should ask someone to show you the ropes with these things. I guess I just grew up with technology, but it's not so hard once you're used to it. Let me know if your friend agrees to take that picture.

Be my guest. And, uh, I wasn't knocking yours when I said that stuff about mine not being boring. What's boring is reading through years of the network.

No offense taken. When I rewrote the guide, I made sure it was shorter than the last one we had. I get a lot of questions about what's not covered in it, but I'd rather people get through it and ask than not read it at all.

I've had someone teaching me the basics now bu I was absolutely lost when I arrived... having something simple that can just be listened to can help a lot if you're not familiar with those things.

And I just asked him, hopefully he will reply soon.

Yours is a good intro, answers all the up-front questions. I guess mine's everything else, for once people have stopped panicking. And hey, maybe it'll keep people from bugging you so much. You're like, in charge of the guard, right? You're probably busy.

She's never had much patience, and you humanoids are very good at fraying on someone's last nerve. I don't think it took much for her tolerance to run out.

I do not control who comes in or leaves. It's possible that I could, with further experiments on the Door.

Before the Null attacked... [It seems like so long ago now.] We stayed in one place. One city. Sometimes gods would travel between cities, but not the hosts, and generally only one of us at a time. I was a traveler of sorts for our city.

Keep in mind also, that all of us gods are very young for our species, barely out of what you might consider adolescence. I am older, as it is customary for one of us to be created first to serve as a guide for the other seven when partitioning off for a new city- but I'm getting ahead of myself. My point is that my experience is somewhat limited, as is our knowledge of history because our species were not record keepers, nor did we have a written language- everything was passed down verbally and through tradition. The Null, of course, found this incredibly primitive.

We coexisted with them, though. Not our particular city, we were too young for that and were only beginning our cycle, but other cities had Null interacting with them freely- this planet in fact, was a major location of contact between our cities. They gave us technology, helped us to expand to harsher climates, created databases to keep track of our settlements so that we could more readily visit one another. In our largest cities, it was not uncommon to see dwellings of our own creation interspersed with ugly, metallic pillars that they would inhabit. They had expanded far further into the galaxy than we had, and encouraged our expansion past the several planets that we had settled on. Cities moved to Null planets, we helped the Null colonize further planets- so on and so forth.

In our city, we had no Null living with us, but they would visit from time to time. We were small, insignificant, which meant that we were not a priority target when they received the kill order.

Thank you for your work on this, it was very helpful. May I ask where you learned all of this information?
