I am sure you have seen the ships, as have we. It is time for a decision. Thanks to your efforts and knowledge, we have options - they are few, but I think any of them could succeed. But each has unknowns and possible dangers. Please take all of these into consideration before you make your decision.

First, we could use the Door to send the Null away to another facet of this wide multiverse. This would keep us safe, and allow us to stay here, in our home, in order to rebuild and restore our people. However, while we have more control of the Door, we only have so much. We can't choose where to send the Null, so they could end up anywhere, including in a universe that one of you is from. Also, while we would try our very best, it would be difficult to ensure that each and every Null scattered across the worlds is caught in this. It is possible we may miss some.

Second, we could use the Door to transport ourselves to another universe. Like the first option, we cannot be sure where we would end up. We would be safe from the Null, but possibly find other dangers. In addition, only those of us gods currently in the city would survive - there would be no option to resurrect our fallen comrades or hosts. With the hosts you have restored to me and our own essences, we could rebuild, but it would take a very long time.

One additional note for the first two options: after carrying out either one, we would need to shut the Door down permanently. To leave it working would be to invite the Null to find a way through it to us. We would send you all home first, of course, but you would never be able to return here or leave the worlds that you return to.

Finally, we could use your skills to infect the Null with a sort of virus. I will admit that my unfamiliarity with technology makes the details of this difficult to understand, but the essence of it is that a group of you would return to the communications relay found on the previous world and use it to broadcast a program that would alter the Null themselves. There are two options here, as well: use it to shut the Null down and therefore kill them, or use it to alter them and imbue them with emotions so they would no longer need or wish to destroy us.

These last two options are the most dangerous for you, and I would ask for volunteers to carry this out if it is chosen. It would allow us to stay here and rebuild our species, and it would potentially allow the Null to survive, though of course that may also be a danger someday. It would also allow us to maintain the Door, which would give you the option to come and go as you pleased. However, the ethics of destroying or permanently altering another species must be considered. Do we have the right to do this against their will? Do we have the right to commit genocide?

Please take your time to consider these options. I believe we can hold out long enough for an educated decision, rather than one made foolishly and in haste. And thank you, all of you, for everything that you have done. None of these options would have been possible if not for your hard work and ingenuity. You have accomplished incredible things and given us a chance when we had none.

Hello. My name is Lucretia.

I know things are rough right now, and that we're all preparing for - well, for war, maybe. And I don't want to diminish the importance of that, or the work that anyone is doing. We need to be ready for whatever happens.

But I think we've all been a little stressed lately, and there's nothing like a shitty work-life balance to kill productivity, you know? And - it may not be midsummer here, but it sure feels like it.

So. Two days from now, there will be an Ice Festival in the imported housing district, outside building 4-3. [ It's just her backyard. This is very professional, it's fine. ] Anyone is welcome. I only ask that everyone maintain a minimum level of civility. If you have a beef with someone, leave it at the door.

Food and entertainment will be provided, but if anyone knows any ice spells and would be willing to help out, please feel free to volunteer.

This is BYOB. Any questions, let me know. Thank you.

[The feed shows Sonya near the Guardsmen HQ, a stack of..rather colorful papers infront of her.]

This is for Daenarys and the other guardsmen, but I'm leaving this open for others concerned, since we can't really afford to be exclusive at this point. It's been a month since talk of plans started, I think it's long enough to discuss what we have and what we could start to plan on.

I have a number of ideas we could set against the Null, but most of what I'm personally proposing is escape routes and cover for those who can't fight.  [She looked once more at the papers, a careful eye would show them full of rough, simple diagrams and notes. She turns cautious and looks around a moment before checking once more on the device.]

We can talk in the Guardsmen HQ. I don't know if the Null would be able to hack the devices, but I'd rather not take any chances and risk them finding out our plans.

[The girl on the screen has pale skin, straight black hair and deep, vividly violet eyes that all but bore into anyone who meets them. Her expression, though, is mild and unassuming, with a hint of sullenness around the eyes.]

Hi. My name is Poison. I don't think many of you really know me. [And that is by design. She spends much of her time alone, and that's perfectly fine with her.]

I've been away from home for what feels like a very long time. Where I come from... I write stories. Stories of the things real people do in their lives. [Poison stops here, just for a moment, to brush her hair back over her shoulders.]

And you know, not every part of everyone's life is important. Not important enough for the Hierophant's archives. But I think that a lot of people don't know that your whole life doesn't have to be important. Sometimes, what I get to write is only a month, or a week out of a person's life, but it's the impact that time has on the world that matters.

[Her lips purse, then she smiles briefly.]

I miss doing that. Watching people shape the lives of others. Most of the time they didn't even realise they were doing it until it was nearly over. So... I'd like to hear yours, if you'd tell me. What you think the most important part of your life was... or will be. [Poison rests her chin on the heel of her hand, and lifts her slim brows.]

What's your story?

[ It opens with a few long seconds of silence as Poe thinks over what he wants to say. ]

Should have brought this up sooner, but--things got away from me. Us, I guess, really. Me and Finn and Rey found a relay station about a week out from the city on foot back on the ice planet.

Tinkered around with things, and we found out not only could we track the positions of the Null in real time, we could upload info straight into their hivemind. Didn't mess with that too much. Kind of figured the risk of pulling them down on our heads wasn't worth it.

[ A pause. ] We found maps of three different galaxies. Two are null-infested. The third one's barely touched. Personally, I think running to where things are mostly clear will only delay things. It won't win this fight. It won't save the lives of the sentients who don't see the threat coming yet.

[ A longer pause. ] We're looking for ideas, thoughts on what we could upload into the Null systems. People who could make that kind of thing. Put me in front of something with wings and I can fix it, no problem, but programming isn't my bag.

So. Who's got something useful to say?

[Nick's voice sounds pretty weary -- and also a bit distorted on certain syllables, as though something might not be entirely right with his vocal modulator. Or maybe he's just got a cold. Who knows with these robot types.]

Anyone still out there who needs a place to wait this out safely, come to the Guard headquarters or the Clinic. Doesn't matter which one -- they're right next to each other. And if you don't think you can make it here on your own, let me know. We'll find a way to get you here, even if it means an escort.

[Though given his voice, he might not be in the best condition to do any escorting himself, but like that has ever stopped him.]

Guard, do what you need to do to restrain those looking to cause trouble, even if they're one of us. Try not to add to the body count.

Hey. This is Yvry, not that that means shit to most of you. Anyway, a while back me and Deputy Pratt had this idea for an audio guide. More topics than just the newbie guide, but in short bursts.

Basically, something that'll keep you from having to read the entire network history, and isn't long and boring.

Anyway, here's that guide. It's mostly for new people, but I don't care who downloads it. If you've got any ideas for new topics, corrections, whatever else, I'm all ears.

Oh, and can we get one of you flying-types to go up and take a picture of the city from above? We need an accurate map, and go fuckin' figure, there's no satellites around here. Thanks.

Hey everybody. Me and some people from the lab caught a host. This actually happened a couple weeks ago but we've uh been busy.

We were going to collect some data and do some testing and crap on it but it freaked out on us as soon as we got it into the cage. Between that and the info Nate and his team found I thought it was best to just uh send it straight over to Hope.

We did soooort of manage to communicate with it first? Not me. That was all Shigeru and Alphys. Seems like they can only communicate through like... Telepathic emotions? It's bizarre. Never seen anything like it. The gist of what we got is that they're scared of us. Go figure.

It was super thrilled when we took it to Hope though. They make these little squeaking noises when they're happy? It's great. It had a sort of godlike effect in that everyone could feel it being happy once we got it into the temple.

Anyway we let it go and I guess it's gonna try to spread the good news about Hadriel not being full of total assholes. If you see any more of these guys, don't attack them. They're only lashing out because they don't know what to make of us. Hell maybe the attacks will stop now that we've communicated with one.

Oh we do have a way to track down the host again should that become relevant. I'm not broadcasting more than that because no offense I don't trust everyone in town not to hunt down the hosts and mess with them. They've been through enough. But if you have good intentions stop by the lab and we might be able to help you out. We also still have all the equipment we used to catch them and if more come into town and start attacking people we could try to catch the hostile ones and point them in Hope's direction.

That's about it I guess? Wait no one more thing we took a selfie lol.

[He attaches a picture of the whole group huddled around a happy, flailing host. Hope and Sorrow are presumably standing off to the side and judging our weird human traditions but maybe that's just the way their faces look idk if they're actually there.]

So yeah hit me with questions if you have them. Everyone who helped out with this: feel free to weigh in too. Thanks guys.

[ooc: Big thank you to the players of the characters involved! That'd be George, Michael, Scott, Alphys, Cecily, Cashmere, Steak, Red Wine, Shigeru, Rosen, Sora, and Riku! Like Newt says above, all of you feel free to chime in with responses to this post!

Also, ICly Newt and the others don't yet know that Hope is gonna ask everyone to round up the hosts later in the month, but this is gonna be an open call to anyone who would like to get in on Host Capture Round Two once Hope does announce that. I won't do another network post for that, so feel free to use this post as incentive to hit up Newt/the rest of the team to join the party.

AND FINALLY here's the OOC info!]

[ Sup Hadriel. Today’s video opens on three people (Wash, Nate, and Kyna) sitting in front of Wash’s propped-up phone. They all look uncomfortable to varying degrees but it’s not clear yet why. After a few moments of dead air Wash clears his throat and opens awkwardly, as is his way. ]

Hey. Uh-- hello. We… a group of us, that is, have been gone for awhile on a trip out to the mountains to investigate the planet a little, maybe find out where the Hosts might have been coming from.

...more or less. An exploratory kind of thi- you know, that doesn’t really matter? We found something. It’s. It’s not great.

Not great’s… an understatement. [ Is this where he tells everyone they should sit down for this news? Maybe he should, but Wash presses forward anyway. ] We found what we thought was a bunker, like for survival. But it was actually a lab. A Null lab, where they were experimenting on the Hosts.

Experimenting is a friendly word for it. [ Nate, whose arms are folded resolutely over his chest, flexes his hands, tense. ] It was basically torture. Very meticulous, well-researched torture. As it turns out, the Null were implanting Hosts with- something, it was a piece of equipment they’d worked on for a while. Something to control them.

[ At the word torture Wash goes very still, jaw working with tension and Kyna glances toward him, frowning, before making a face and speaking up to divert attention back to herself. ]

Wow, guys, way to break the news gently. Anyway, there were like, videos and everything.

Footage that, um. Isn’t really suitable for public consumption. I’ll just leave it at that. Point is, the Null have been doing this for a while. And we just- [ He takes a deep breath, exhaling slowly. ] Want people to be safe.

It seemed like something everyone should know about. [ Wash chimes in just to agree, still looking tense but like he doesn’t know where to go from here. ]

Yeah so, uh… [Kyna pauses awkwardly, toying with her necklace.] I don’t know. I guess that kind of explains why they’ve been so violent towards us? Maybe we don’t have to fight the Hosts and the Null. [Or maybe that’s wishful thinking on Kyna’s part.] Anyway, I guess we’ll take questions if you guys have them? Or if anyone wants to know where the bunker is, but it sucks, so you’d probably hate it.

( Life gets in the way a lot at Hadriel, between events and polls and everything else, but eventually, Kate and Lup manage to follow up on their talks and discuss the story of the invasion. And all the people who don’t know, or don’t know enough.

For so much information, text is probably better, she thinks.
)

Know a lot of you probably haven’t heard everything about the invasion and how it happened. You should, especially now.

( Which means it’s time for a Hadriel history lesson. Strap in, kids. )

We were brought here when Hadriel was still underground. Hope revived the other gods. We didn’t know what the Null were, or that they existed. Didn’t even know that Fear was teleporting the city each time. Or that the city was being pursued. Hope revived Love and something went wrong during the teleport. City got split in half, one half stuck dealing with the Null trying to get in.

Think that’s when Delight made a deal with the Null. Said it was to let us go in exchange for Hope’s life and the energy of the other gods. She gave them access to the network and information on the underground sites and movements.

( And here’s where Kate’s story has to involve some amount of hearsay, because she was immediately branded a danger to the Null’s plot. She’s still proud of that, but it might be easier to let Lup explain, since she actually got to interact with the Null there, however briefly. )

yo what up its ur girl lup here for hadriel storytime
long story short
the null contacted us outta the blue w their own lil personal hitlist
a group of hadriel folks they wanted to see put into the ground
promised to give us a god killing weapon or some shit
natch folks werent too happy w that
especially when there were kids on the hitlist
actual children that a bunch of dumb robutts thought were some kind of threat
so folks fucking rebelled the null got even more agro
and i guess thats when they decided to take shit into their own hands and come after us themselves

People were defending Hope’s temple. That’s when we found out Delight was the traitor. She killed most of the people there. Tried to kill Hope.

The Null invaded. Destroyed the original clinic and guard buildings. The library. The power generator. Hope was nearly killed. Sorrow was killed. Took using the monsters in the tunnels outside the city and from the fog zone to help us fight off the number of Null that were coming at us.

it was shit
absolute shit from all sides

( Kate pauses before adding to this, because she can’t ignore the personal side to all of this. She’d been on that list from the start. The Null were very specifically looking for her, and Delight had tried to have her hide in her temple, tried to keep her safe. )

Her decision killed a lot of people. Would have been permanent if Hope wasn’t protected by people here. Gods captured Delight during the attack. They asked us to vote on what to do with her. Locking her up won.

the whole point of this is the null cant be fucking trusted
the end
they dont get more chances after trying to murder us all before
trying to meet their demands or playing nice is gonna end in bloodshed all over again
u can fucking quote me on that one
they want the turbo liches dead and theyll cut thru all of us to get to them
delight fucked us all over sure but doing anything but attacking rn is a stupid move

( And, while that is the jist of it, Kate knows there’s other things to be said. That other people will remember other details, or have explanations about what happened to them personally during all of this, so she tacks on: )

If you’ve got something to add, do so.

Right. Okay. We need to get in front of this and make a plan. I'm the one who has to put my neck out there so I'm the one who has to talk about options.

If they've got Tranquility, they're probably using him in their machines as a power source until we get there. Now, if we can forget that this is all Sorrow's fault for a minute here, we've got to come up with a plan and he has some pretty good ones, so- here goes I guess.

First option is do nothing. We sit on our thumbs and probably let Tranquility die, but it means that we won't be handing over their ally and it means that we won't be playing into whatever trap they're setting for us. As much as I don't want to advocate for this one... well, if they're setting a trap and they want me there, I don't like my chances of walking away from it. This is probably the safest option, but- damn.

Second option is to go ahead with the transfer. I go with some of you, we give them Delight, we hope that they don't trap or kill us during the whole ordeal and get three gods for the price of one. I don't like this at all, but this is probably the best way to get Tranquility back safely- if we don't do this one then I can't guarantee that he'll make it out of there.

And the third was presented by Rage herself. If we assume that they're going to trap us, we go there and trap them instead. Rage can disguise herself to look like Delight and we go through with the transfer. They'll be expecting Delight to work with them- I hope- and so we'll launch a surprise attack during the exchange with Rage's help. We take them out, save Tranquility, keep Delight. If they're expecting this then we lose, big time- but if they're not, then we could win out more here than otherwise.

I don't... I don't really like any of these options. There's risking myself and then there's being stupid- but what other option do we have? I'll hear your concerns or alternate ideas if you have them, as well as any volunteers to go with me.

It doesn't need to be said that if we die at the meeting point... well, Hope won't be able to gather our essences or your bodies for a resurrection when it's so deep into the Null territory. For all intents and purposes, a death there would be permanent. Keep that in mind while you make your choice.

Been... sort of lurking on this whole thing, I guess. But I have a question about this place in general and the people here? Is being dead and now... not being dead sort of a thing that happens here a lot or do you get attacked by whatever death squad to drag you back to the afterlife or whatever for being a fluke in the system?

Just asking... for... a friend?

[He's pausing for a brief moment, not quite sure if he should add more after this or what. But there's no reason not to, right?]
