[Good morning, Hadriel! And by 'morning', we mean approximately... 4:30 in the morning.

Lilith, sitting at what's evidently the kitchen table in her apartment, doesn't look especially concerned that she's waking anybody with this post. Seeing as she's very, very sure that she's not the only one still up in these wee hours, futilely fighting the nightly waves of Fear-induced exhaustion by trying to sleep as little as possible while she is affected. Accordingly, she's rocking eyebags, """smoky""" eyeliner, and a mug of coffee approximately the size of her head. (Thanks, Chris and crew-- she owes you guys big.)]

'Sup. [is her deadpan opener. Yep, just a ''sup'. She stares, blankly, into the camera for a second, takes a huge swig from the giant mug of coffee, and continues in the same dispassionate tone.]

First off-- Fear, you're a dickhead.

[Cue another, smaller, gulp of coffee. Charming as ever, she flicks her middle finger up at the camera while she drinks.] Delight's cool, though, thanks for the breaks every other-- ooooooh my God, caffeine, this is definitely helping! Hoooly crap.

[Can you tell she hasn't slept very much.]

Secondly. Good luck to everybody in Slumbertown tonight, but I'm sick of Fear's fresh new mental scarring every damn time I try to go to sleep: I'm sitting up tonight. Who's with me? 'Cause if you are, could you bring me some more coffee? And, um, some of those little video game things, 'cause the wimpy stone age batteries in all of mine have died already.

[Sigh.] 'Least I already got used to 30-hour days on Pandora.

You know how everything is shaped kind of... weird here? [What she wouldn't give for a chair that wasn't too short in leg or too tall and stiff in back.]

Yeah. I'm not actually sure this was supposed to be a mug to begin with. It might be, I dunno, a vase.

[behold the ingenuity of a vault hunter.]

That's...quite possible.

[Nothing looks like it should in this place. Maketh sighs.] Are you doing all right?

Me? Yeah! Oh, yeah. I'm good.

[No. No, she isn't. She looks pale-- paler than usual, that is.]

I'm still conscious, so I think we can call this fine.

[Maketh just nods. Neither of them look well. She supposes no one in Hadriel is sleeping well right now.] At least these things only last a few days, at most.

[It's not much of a comfort.

She hesitates.]

And...not all the dreams were bad.

They weren't.

[Calling in a favor from Delight to stem the Fear dreams? A very, very good idea.]

I saw you around once, on Pandora. Do you remember that one, Maketh?

I do. [Maketh gives her a little smile.] It was--it was a good dream.

Things were a little crazier when the real deal happened. That armory was rigged to blow, and we couldn't take our time...

[Lilith trails off.]

You looked pretty good in that armor. It suited you.

You noticed that. [Maketh hesitates. Logically it doesn't make sense, but--]

I think it was my mother's. It's been gone for years, but I remember it.

[Never thought she would actually wear it herself.

Maketh smiles suddenly.] It was a good dream. I missed being--being part of something. I would like to see Pandora someday.

Your mother's? Was she a soldier?

[Lilith, in turn, doesn't remember much of her own mother-- and increasingly less of her own father. The idea of anything like a legacy is somewhat lost on her.]

You've got a one-way ticket there with me, Krieg, and Axton whenever we get out of here. [She can't help smiling along with Maketh, then.] According to them, I stick around for a while. It'd be nice to have you around there, too.

Not precisely. More of a mercenary. [Maketh smiles a little.] She supported the wrong political cause and had to leave home quite young. But I'm told she was very skilled. She was injured and had to retire in the end, though.

[Sometimes, Maketh wonders if her mother regretted that. Having to give up her armor for a child and a struggling farm.

Maketh gives Lilith a smile - a real one this time.]

I am not surprised. And it would be good to be among friends.

A mercenary? No way. [Maketh's mother, a hired gun. Never in a million years would she have guessed: Lilith's idea of a mercenary is, well, herself, if not a bit more strait-laced, and Maketh gives off very little of that sort of air.

Although...] But then again, that does kinda make sense. Tough as nails mercenary mom equals a tough as nails-- well, you. [A grin.] It'll help you on Pandora. I'm already starting to trust those two like I trust my guys back home, by the way, but don't tell 'em I said it, they'll get big heads.

[Lilith pauses.]

S'been weird, hearing about future me. I didn't think I'd stay on Pandora once the Vault turned out to be a fluke.

[Maketh laughs a little.] We all have to come from somewhere. And me, tell? Certainly not!

[More seriously:]

I wonder if it's...written already, so to speak? Or if things could be different now that you know? This whole business of different timelines doesn't make much sense to me.

Me either. Everybody's been pretty cagey about it, and I get it: nobody actually knows what happens if you figure out the future, so they're bein' careful.

[What she doesn't know is that they're protecting her. She doesn't need to know about all that she's going to lose over the next five years. Not yet.]

But I do know that I get stronger, and that they start giving me a nickname: Firehawk. Pretty badass, huh? I wouldn't mind if that part stayed the same.

Firehawk. [Maketh grins at that.] Not just for your hair, I take it?

I really hope it's not just the hair, that'd be pretty lame. Waste of a cool alias, too.

Certainly, we must not waste such a name.

[It's said with gentle teasing, but no bite. Maketh is smiling.]

I like it. It suits you.

Really? [Well, if Maketh approves...]

In that case, whatever happens, it's a keeper.

Do you know if you choose it yourself, or someone else gives it to you?

[This whole timeline business is confusing.]

I think it's given to me-- but who knows, now that I'm planning on using it. Maybe I've created some sort of time paradox.

[She's totally joking, and yet...]

It's hard for me to wrap my head around the concept. At least...well, it's something good, isn't it? Having that name. We could use a few good things.
