So I got a question.

But seriously, this is so far out of his comfort zone that we're in the Andromeda galaxy, so just... give him a second. He's not used to talking about this to the mass public. ]

How many of you've had something shitty from home show up here? [ .... Sigh. Okay. Too vague. Try again.

I mean monsters. Shit that does more than go bump in the night. Because if we all start bringing this kinda crap from where we come from, we're gonna have a problem and not nearly enough people are gonna know what to do with it. I mean, just counting what could come outta my own world-- [ grumble grumble. ]

So what I wanna know is if this's happened more than once. We already got enough here to keep track of, I just wanna know if anything that people know more about's followed you here.

Unless you count the combustible fireflies when I first arrived, no. I haven't really gone out of my way to seek any out, though.

Not verifiably. We have stories, of course - vampires, werewolves, Bigfoot, the Loch Ness monster. But no actual evidence exists for any of it. The only thing I've encountered that could be classified as supernatural is shinigami, and I'd hesitate to call them monsters in the traditional sense of the word.

[So really, his interest is partly in finding something to stave off boredom, but mostly in the simple act of acquiring information.]

Yeah, it was um... The same at home, except apparently wendigos are real. No shinigami though, at least uh, as far as I know.

[And he only vaguely has an idea of what shinigami are, thanks to the internet, but he has the general idea.]

That's not surprising. If there are shinigami and they're the same as the one I met, you would have to meet a specific set of circumstances to ever know you were in their presence.

Do they leave you alone if you don't mess with them?

[Because he'd be all about never finding out if they're real or not if wouldn't hurt him not to know, no matter how much of him is also kind of curious about them.]

[Really, it's more about the shinigami deciding to mess around with the human world by dropping a notebook and waiting for a human to pick it up and cause chaos with it.]

My understanding is that you won't ever see a shinigami unless it wants you to know it's there.

[Which is more or less how it happened with Sidoh. Mello had his notebook, which Sidoh repossessed and then dropped on Jack's head, then told him to get everyone else to touch the notebook in order to see him.]

They don't eat people. In fact, they only seem to typically concern themselves with taking human lives in order to prolong their own.

I'm just gonna assume they're not a thing in my world until proven otherwise.

[Because wendigos are a big enough upset to his worldview, let alone anything else, and he definitely doesn't need to be worrying about things that might not even exist.]

As long as we're all stuck here, it doesn't really matter, does it - what you'll want to be concerned about is whether they exist here.

You know the gods do things to make us feel whatever emotion they feed off of, right?

Yes, Fear did mention that being his motivation for the dreams. What else have they done?

A lot of stuff. There was a blizzard full of yetis, there was the time half the city got buried alive, there's the wendigo thing, rage making people try to kill each other, and a bunch of other shit. Those were the worst ones though.

[And really the blizzard hadn't been too bad, but a bunch of difficult things happened at the same time and sort of made it seem worse.]

[All unpleasant things, to be sure, but nothing catastrophic. Mello's barometer is calibrated a bit differently than most people's.]

Those seem heavily stacked in Fear's favor. Is there any discord among the gods?

Fear's were a little more memorable than most of the others. Besides, when I got here it was just Hope and Fear anyway.

[And too bad you aren't asking this question after Delight's post, since then Chris would have a lot more details on this subject. But for now...]

I'm pretty sure they don't like Fear, but that's most of what I know.

I think he just generally causes a lot of problems for him. He seems to really annoy Hope specifically.
