[ When she's brought back through the door, it's in a small explosion of green. The Inquisitor lurches forward back into Hadriel, into the coliseum, her hand a mess of sparks, of arcing lightning, of heat and pain and danger. It's all stemming from her left palm, the green mass flaring up in a crackling clamor which Cecily adds to, crying out as she struggles to do something, anything, to keep it under control. ]

Stay back, it isn't safe-- [ She yells to what she hopes is a person seen out of the corner of her eye, and not an enemy of any kind (she also doesn't yet realize where she is). ]

[ Some time later, the battered Inquisitor appears over the network, not looking much different physically save for the obvious green light that makes its way into the picture, reflected in her dark eyes. Her expression is an attempt at concealing an agonizing pain, so her mouth is drawn into a tight, thin line, brow occasionally twitching downward. ]

I think it's settled... That is, I don't think it's expanding anymore. [ "And isn't going to kill me, yet." ] But, if there's anyone who has healing abilities, or... some medicine to dull the absurd amount of hurt it's doing, I really would like to speak with you. I'm considering just chopping off my hand, but I don't think the thing would go without a fight.

[ Cecily starts to move to end the call, but she glances downward and mutters: ]

It's still dangerous. I've got to do something to get the flare-ups under control, too. [ She then looks upward, exhausted, and adds: ] Don't come and investigate the mysterious lights, if you see them. Unless you like... I don't know, intense nerve pain. In that case, come over; we'll shake hands.

I'm not sure. [ It's the honest answer as much as she loathes it. ] I don't know if there's anything that can be done.

[ But... maybe. There are a lot of people in Hadriel with abilities and knowledge that they don't have in Thedas. Maybe there's a chance. ]

I could... [ She's got nothing. She doesn't know shit about magic, doesn't know shit about first aid, doesn't know shit about anything. Fuck. ]

I don't know, but I'm sure there's something. [ They could talk to one of the gods, especially if it's bad. ] What about Hope?

Hope wouldn't do anything for me after the way I've mouthed off about him. [ She smiles somewhat crookedly, then heaves a sigh. ] I've been a menace to all of them, more or less. I won't count on their help now.

[ Nor has she ever (you know, except for the food, supplies, housing--) ]

I'm looking for someone with magic-based abilities. They may be able to do something about it. [ Probably not, though, which is why her other plan is: ] Then I mean to find a healer to keep this thing from making me... bloody crazy.

[ Maybe she doesn't have great pain tolerance, but the anchor fucking hurts. ]

The only thing they care about is power, Cecily. [ as long as you're willing to give them some part of yourself, they'll probably give you whatever you want.

but she won't push it. she knows the last thing she would want to do in a shitty situation is turn to them for help. ]

...What kind of magic do you think will help? I can keep an ear to the ground, and see if I can find someone.

I know that. But, they can be more like humans than they think. They're petty and vile. [ More than that, of course. Like humans. ] I'll think about it.

[ She won't go, though. Sorry, Sharon; Cecily is famously hard-headed. ]

The kind of magic that isn't here. [ She sighs. ] ... Someone with experience in old magic? In... elven magics, if that's not too specific for this place, and I think it is. Maker-- [ There's another breath, now, short and impatient. ] It's a new power even in my own world; I can hardly expect anyone here to be an expert.

[ she knows what 'i'll think about it' means cecily :| her dad used that a lot, too, when he really meant 'no'. ]

...Elven magic. [ she groans. ] Maybe there's someone who knows a magic that can... dampen power? Or even siphon it off. But I guess that depends on the how, and why it's hurting you.

Oh. [ !!! ] Yes, there is. Cullen's training-- He was something called a templar, like a... knight, but one who protects people and mages themselves from dangerous magic. He has abilities like that, to nullify or reduce the effects of magic, and... that may work.

[ Okay, but why didn't she think of that herself?? ]

Thank the Maker you're here to point out the obvious to me when I can't bloody think of it. [ She laughs dryly. ]

[ now that's some luck. sharon had no clue that cullen had abilities like that under his belt. that must make him incredibly formidable when combined with his physical prowess. ]

Hey, it's not like you can think when your hand is being a glowing pain in the ass!

[ That makes Cecily laugh, despite... everything. ]

You've got a point. [ The anchor is distracting, to say the least. ] ... I'll contact you once this is settled, all right? To let you know that I've worked it out.

Mm, all right. [ a beat, and then: ] I hope it works.

[ Sharon, who hopes for very little, can hope for this for her friend, even if Hope feeds from it. ]
