It's not that he likes being in the temples, no matter which god_ess they belong to, but considering how things outside took a turn for the worse instead of for the better, he has decided on spending siren times inside - this time in Delight's temple. Which gave him time to waste.]

What do these mean? [He can figure out the others - people with different faces, and cats with different faces, hearts and a star. But those four are confusing.]

Well that's silly. Even words are open to interpretation. So are images.

How does salt keep away anybody?

Salt laid across the entrances to a building, or drawn in a circle, acts as a protective charm against ghosts. The dead don't like it, much as they don't like iron. If it's anything like angel warding then it's because it feels pushy, like someone holding their hands against your chest.

I couldn't tell you exactly what it is about sodium chloride that quite does the trick, but I imagine it's something quite basic; primordial.
