first song ♫ video
[ The video clicks on as someone is positioning it. The aforementioned individual walks quite a few paces back, whole upper body coming into view. Some may recognize her, some may not. But that's the point of this. ]
Hello, fellow cave dwellers! Have you ever heard the acoustics in this place? If not, allow me to demonstrate. They're beautiful, simply beautiful.
[ Without further ado, the woman begins to belt out a lovely tune. ]
You're alone, you're on your own, so what? Have you gone blind? Have you forgotten what you have and what is yours? Glass half empty, glass half full Well, either way you won't be going thirsty. Count your blessings not your flaws. You've got it all, you lost your mind in the sound. There's so much more, you can reclaim your crown; you're in control, rid of the monsters inside your head. Put all your faults to bed. You can be king again! You don't get what all this is about. You're too wrapped up in your self doubt. You've got that young blood, set it free.
[ It's not actually really able to be determined if her voice sounds better or not due to their underground dwelling. It's still a beautiful mezzo-soprano regardless. She continues a second round of the chorus and into a new verse. ]
You can be king again. There's method in my madness. There's no logic in your sadness. You don't gain a single thing from misery...
[ Wait for it. Her voice suddenly increases in volume and length as she sings at the top of her lungs to the sky: ]
Take it from me!!
[ She clears her throat then, turning back to the camera with a huge grin. ]
I've already met some of you, but I figured I should do a formal introduction! My name's Rose. Music is kind of my deal, if you couldn't tell. I have a guitar but, uh - [ An awkward waggle of her no-handed arm. ] - obviously can't play it anymore, so! Singing's about all I can do for now.
But tell me, everyone, what's your favorite song? What music do you like? That says a lot about someone, believe it or not. So talk to me, I'd like to get to know ya'll.
[ (insert eyebrow waggle and doofy grin at the camera here) ]

[He's seen part of it, but never the whole thing. He doubts his mind would be able to see it all without fracturing more than it already has.]

I used to think there might be. Not so much anymore. Feels like everything does happen for a reason. Even if I sure as hell don't know what that reason is.

Having been here for some time, I am beginning to suspect I was drawn here because certain people have need of me.
[He's never had friends before. Family, yes, but that wasn't quite the same thing. His friends here, those like Shadow and Nick, they had need of him. So he's resigned himself to staying as long as they are around.]

The place I was in before, I... I think I was there because I needed them. [ She wouldn't have lived without them; she hadn't wanted to live without them. ] Maybe they're here for the same reason.
Maybe I still have to figure it out.

You see? There is a pattern at work here. It governs everything, even if we can't see it.
[He smiles at her, the expression lighting up his homely face.]
The trick is learning how to use it to your advantage instead of letting it govern you.

Making my own way sounds pretty cool. Or, at least, making a way that works better for me and my packmates.

[Then she uses a phrase that most people might find odd. Then again, most people were not raised by werewolves as Ushahin was.]
Packmates? That is a curious way to describe others.

[ Ah. Shoot. She was doing so well with the 'haha i'm totally human!!!' ruse there. It's not necessarily a secret anymore, but... Something she's still a little awkward about. At least when it comes to strangers. ]
Yeah, uh. I know I look pretty human, but that's just an illusion. I'm actually, uh, a yokai. It's... complicated. But basically, I have an animal spirit. [ They were animals once. Sort of. Mythology!!! ] Mine's a wolf, but there are others. Foxes, crows, all that jazz.
Anyway! So the people I knew from the world before, they're more than family to me. Pack is the only way I can think of to describe it.

[Eyes that have seen too much over the course of a long life. Eyes that hold madness within their depths.]
A wolf, you say? I have always held a connection to them. I was raised by the Were in my own world. They are a curious mixture of human and wolf. Something of them remains with me still.
[His scent, should she ever smell it, is a curious mixture of mortal human, immortal Ellyl, and the wolfish musk of the Were.]

[ Illusions are common in her world, but she'd been told this particular one was rare. For all her travels, she'd only ever met another individual who wore it. ]
We have werewolfs in my world. I've known a few. I don't think they've ever been called just Were though... But still! That's pretty cool, dude.

[His time among them is now a bittersweet memory as so many others are. Though the current leader had cast him out, he sees himself as one of them still.]

[ He'd given her life to save hers; it's something she's never sure she'll be able to repay, but... She does so by continuing to live in his stead. ]
So, hey! I think Weres are pretty great, too.

[He smiles his crooked smile, the one he uses when he is being completely genuine with someone.]
Then I think you and I shall be getting along just fine.
[It tends to be a bit of a rarity here. So often, he finds himself misunderstood or with people angry at him for entirely justifiable reasons. It doesn't keep him from being any less lonely.]
