I've been told that if you keep a body cold enough, it will retain its features for years, frozen in time. Can you imagine yourself like that? Your blood and your bone frozen solid, with skin and hair and everything, eyes open and wide and staring sightless into the world. I'd like you to really think about it- dying in the cold, that is. Preserved perfectly forever.

It would be an interesting way to keep you all from complaining, don't you think? A quick snap freeze and you're all immobile. If we're being honest, I think that would probably be the best solution to our interpersonal problems- but I'd want to keep you just barely alive somehow, conscious enough to still feel fear. Frozen and screaming. Take a minute and think about it. I rather like the idea.

...oh, also, Rage apparently won Hope's stupid poll. He's making the preparations to revive her and you should expect her to awaken at the end of the month.

[ Kaz really hadn't expected one of these gods to show themselves so soon, even if it is through a message that's text-only. The technology of his mobile phone is a little more advanced than what he's used to, not to mention he's typing one-handed, but he gets a response sent out eventually. ]

So this is your plan? To strike fear into the hearts of all of us?

[ Fear is an emotion that Miller learned not to admit to a long time ago, but rage? That's something he can get behind. At least the other people here are on the right track there. ]

That's the plan, yes. I want your fear, and I'll do what it takes to get it.

And we're supposed to be okay with you leeching off of us? Is that the only reason we're here?

You don't really have to be okay with it. I still get power either way.

And what do you plan to do with that power?

Defeat Hope. Terrorize more of you, gain more power. It's quite simple, really.

And once you've accomplished all that? I'm guessing you don't have any intentions of sending us home.

I don't think you can get home from here. Hope does, but he's naive.

What makes you think we can't?

I don't think the Door opens both ways. I imagine it's similar to a journey with many spikes pointing in one direction. You can go one way, but if you try to go the other, you get shredded.

And what makes you so sure of this?

I'm not. It's just what I think. I'm sure Hope would tell you something naively optimistic.

So it's all a matter of perspective, then.

[ Which means Kaz sure as hell isn't going to give up just because of what this guy has to say. ]

What's the story with this place, anyway? What happened to the people who came before us?

I don't think that knowing the answers to those questions would change anything for you.

Where were you before you came here?

It does if we're going to be doomed to the same fate.

I was on Mother Base, but I doubt that means anything to you.

You won't be. I intend for you all to live very long and emotional lives while you're here with us.

It doesn't. Would you tell me about it?

[ Of course he does. Kaz scoffs to himself, but he can't quite give up on this conversation yet. He's tenacious that way. ]

Why do you want to know?

There are many things that we don't know about humans. I want to learn more about your culture and the types of things you're accustomed to.

So that you can develop more specific ways to scare us? Yeah, think I'll pass on that one.

Maybe. Maybe also so that Hope can bring things into this world that you're comfortable and familiar with.

But I won't force you. I can get fear either way.

If that were really the case, then I could just talk to Hope.

I guess we'll see. Some people are more difficult to scare than others.

More difficult, but not impossible. I'll simply have to try harder.

Don't get too ambitious.
