010 [Video]

[Chris gives a small wave and smile as the video opens, looking a little tired but otherwise pleased with himself.]

Hey, everyone. Just uh, a quick announcement that the emergency alert app now works with the GPS. You'll have to redownload it, but all your settings and whatever should just carry over to the new version automatically.

[There's a file attached to the post to download, and Chris is quiet a moment before continuing.]

And just like, if anyone's curious, magic GPS is not the easiest thing even to work with. Also, those are totally not words I ever thought I'd say.

[But whatever. He goes a little more serious then, adding in a last comment--]

I um, hope everyone's doing okay after the event, too.

[And he gives a small wave goodbye, though he doesn't end the broadcast just yet. Instead, he switches on a filter.]

[Private to The Guard]

Hey um, I also updated the version of the program that you use for check-ins. Same deal as with the emergency app; it should just update all your settings and whatever automatically, but you'll have to redownload it.

[Hadriel's phones need an autoupdate feature.]

Alternative technology or again the frustrating interjection of 'magic'. It's rather bizarre to witness, the parts moving, connecting with seemingly nothing, yet operating.

Oh? Can you be more specific? Not that I'll mind if you can't. It isn't as though I'm busy.

[ His glasses are already in place, but he reaches to adjust them, straightening and pushing them closer to his eyes as he squints at the screen. ]

Not normally, no, though there have been scattered movements in that direction. Nothing like that. Much too burnt for anything on it to be salvaged, I'm sure. Fascinating. In the caves?

I don't recall hearing of it, but there wasn't anything with fire for the duration of the -- I suppose I should say, since Mr. Fear first opened the Door?

[ That could be a beast or individual with fire power. ...Ugh, inadvertent pun. ]

It is possible someone had it with them when they were brought here and subsequently lost it in the caves. They may have been killed by flames and unable to find it once revived.

[ Or it could be a relic from the time before the Door's opening, from the previous inhabitants. Only, he's wary of jumping to that conclusion, and once there, what to do with it? ]

For that reason, however, it very well could be, and that the reason they could not find it. I think the only way we could know for sure is by asking one of the gods.

[ Inadvertently on Mr. Chris's track. Even with Newton's microscope, even by comparing the chip to the metal of the appliances available in each home, Hermann's not sure he'd have enough. Those are appliances designed for housework and such tasks. Dissimilar to what would use such a chip, if it was native to this place. ]

He doesn't seem the type to make a demand of it. I could look at it first, I mean in person, but what I can see makes me doubt I'd glean much more from it.
