[Nick has been notably absent from her usual post at Delight's bar for the past several weeks, but today, as she turns the video camera of her phone on herself, the familiar sight of shelves of multicolored bottles lined up behind her indicate her location. That's right - she's back, and she is smiling as she holds up a tambourine and gives it a good shake. If you've met Nick even once, you'll know that she is made of sharp edges and not someone who smiles easily.]

Hey ... I dunno who left this here for me, but I wanted to say thanks. This is ... this is really great.

[The fact that she is openly addressing Hadriel with her thanks is perhaps a testament to how significant this particular item is for her, since gratitude doesn't come easily for Nick, either. Then again, if you know her well enough, you may notice something different about her entire demeanor - something softer, something warmer, something much less feral and hostile.]

Oh, and one more thing ... [She sets the tambourine down on the counter in front of her and gestures to the bar around her.] Thanks for not letting this place burn down while I was out ... "sick." Everyone knows this place is a shithole, and we only got so many not-shitty things here. Delight's bar is prob'ly the best one. Gotta hang on to what we've got, right?

[She grins again as she reaches over to cut the feed and get back to work. Perhaps you're there to place an order with her for something to drink?]

[He looks altogether too cocky, like he's a predator who's caught her somewhere vulnerable- the two of them fight about as often as they talk, and so Ronan has no qualms about holding this a little over her head.]

You should probably get a lock for your diary.

[She half-scowls at him, unsure if he's serious or just fucking with her because he can. Neither would surprise her.]

It's not a diary. Diaries are for preteen bullshit, like "Dear Diary" - [she pitches her voice higher in mock-little girl fashion] - "today I had pizza for lunch and Tommy asked to borrow my pen in third period, he's soooo cute."

[And she rolls her eyes, flipping the cover of the journal closed and refastening the elastic over it.]

Anyway, it's rude to snoop. Anyone ever tell you that?

I bet you fuckin' crushed on a Tommy, [Ronan teases, grinning a little before backing down with a nonchalant shrug. Nick can complain all she likes, but it's kind of fun to get her riled up. Even though Ronan knows what she can do and what she really is, the two of them haven't come to blows for awhile now.

It probably wouldn't happen now. Probably.]

Tommy was a jock. Completely brain-dead by the time senior year rolled around, too.

[She fakes an exaggerated yawn to stress how unimpressive that kid was.]

No ... [A slow grin creeps across her face.] You just look like a shit, period.

[Ronan laughs though, as if emphasizing the difference between social circles is so below him- which, for a guy who went to private school and was best friends with the son of a senator, probably has a grain of truth to it.

He's not offended by her remarks though and instead simply shrugs.]
