[Chris is at the bar today, looking like he's more interested in having a nap than making a broadcast. But he has a large coffee, at least, and manages a smile for the camera at the video starts.]

Hey. It's uh, been a little weird around here lately, huh?

[What with people arriving in two waves at completely the wrong time and all. But at least there's been some good snacks, even if Chris carefully avoided Delight's energy shots.]

Um, this has nothing to do with any of that, but I was uh... Hoping someone would be willing to like, talk about making a deal to trade for some bullets or something. I kind of ran through what I had during the whole zombie incident.

[Or well, most of them; he'd used the last one later on during the Confusion event, but those are unnecessary details.]

So uh... Yeah. That's about it.

[Have an awkward, dorky wave before he disconnects.]

I would have thought everyone knew about Rage's deal.

[Because killing monsters, what's the problem here?]

[Well, see, about that--]

Yeah, um, I know, I've done it a few times. The problem is I need bullets to get more bullets.

[So he normally is very careful about saving them, but with everything that happened he has no luck. And no one should ever let Chris use a weapon besides a gun during a monster-hunting expedition, let's be real.]

You can't just pray to whichever god gets the most out of your bullet ownership?

That'd be pretty sweet, but no.

[He'd love to be able to get away with that, or even just being able to deal with a different god than Rage. But alas.]

You can uh, trade a dead monster to Rage for a clip, but it'd kind of tough for me to kill any monsters without already having bullets, so...

[So trading with others here it is.]

I thought you could trade, um... stuff to the gods? For... other stuff?

or you could just learn magic ot something less likely to end up getting you killed

Do you really think magic and me would mix? Especially magic that would be useful if we were attacked by monsters or something?

[He's pretty sure technology nerds aren't usually a good mix with magic.]

[Hey, Hannah. He offers a bit warmer of a smile, since he's still pretty glad she's even talking to him.]

Yeah, you can, but uh... Rage handles all the weaponry stuff, and she's already got a deal in place for bullets that I um, sort of can't manage at the moment since I'm totally out. Since you have to trade her a dead monster.

[Or person, probably, but that's even more out.]

She might um, offer an alternative deal or something if I asked, but I don't think it'd be something I'd be... You know. Willing to do.

[She is Rage, after all.]

[Do those even exist. Who cares. She's making a point.]

Hey that deal worked out really well.

While that'd be super cool and useful, that's kind of a preventative thing.

[And considering he used his last clip of bullets on a combination of zombies and a hideous monster-bear, he doesn't think traps glyphs would've helped. If they even exist.]

you realize you can draw a quick glyph in a pinch and end up doing what's basically battle magic, right?

[Fuck you they probably would work.]

( honestly, it's been a while since she tried trading for bullets, for all sorts of reasons, but- )

There's plenty of weapons in the armory, if nothing else.

[Honestly, he's at the point of assuming everyone here has some kind of crazy power or other they can use.]

A healer such as yourself hunts monsters? That is surprising, Chris.

Well, um, my healing power wore off, so...

[So he's not really a healer anymore, which sucks. He didn't use the power much, but when he did need it he was really glad he had it.]

And I guess I don't really... Hunt monsters, either. At least not more than I have to.

Do you still need someone to work the laundry machines for you?

[It was so long ago they had the conversation, and though he really doubts that'd be a worthwhile deal to her anymore it's still too good of a callback to pass up.]

[ A pause. ]

Then the bullets are for?

[ Surely not fellow cave dwelling humans. He doesn't seem the type to murder in cold blood. ]

Yeah.

[He's actually considering talking to Hope about figuring out some deal, but that's a future endeavour.]

For um, when we can't avoid whatever's getting thrown at us. Like the zombie mess, or the time with the yetis.

[Or, much more distressingly, things like the event where Rage made people try to murder each other and he'd had to shoot someone--fortunately non-fatally--in self-defense.]

Uh, no, because I can't use magic.

Also the gun's been working pretty well so far.

[Let him have his thing, Em.]

I'm uh... Sort of not practiced with any other weapons.

[He's not even that practiced with a gun, honestly, he just happens to be a naturally good shot. Thankfully.]

Besides if I had like, a sword or something I'd probably end up stabbing myself in the foot.

[Unfortunately for Chris, he is not only very normal but not particularly graceful.]

[ Right. Not everyone has super human strength, Armand. ]

I suppose those situations are unavoidable.

[ Perhaps he should learn to wield a weapon as well. If he met an armoured something he would be screwed. ]

Where did you learn such a skill?

[He hesitates a moment at the question, not because it's any secret at this point, but even after a year what happened on the mountain is a bit difficult to talk about.]

T-The um, night before I got here, my friends and I were on this mountain, and it uh... T-There were monsters. I-I kind of just picked it up how to shoot while that was going on.

[And fortunately he was a naturally good shot, or he wouldn't be here.]

[ Unfortunately, Armand is not good at picking up people's emotions. He can tell something is upsetting Chris. Was it the question? ]

Monsters? Such as the ones that are here?

[ His world has no monsters. Not conventional ones, anyway. ]

are you sure you're not just too chickenshit to find out if you really can't?

Sort of.

[Again he's quiet a moment, though he's more certain when he continues; this part he's had to repeat many times by now.]

The monsters from my world are um... Actually here, too. They're these things called wendigos, and they're spirits that possess people that engage in cannibalism and turn them into monsters. They're really strong and really fast, but they can only see movement.
