[The video opens with Jack crouched on the beach, a handful of sand trickling from the gaps between his fingers. He's staring at it like he's trying to find the catch, something that would prove that it's counterfeit.

After a moment he sighs and dusts his hands together.]

Am I the only one who liked the city better the way it was? Or does that make me a blasphemer? [Wouldn't be the first time. He glances back, eyes lifting in the direction of the skyscrapers.] This looks a little too much like the city I came from.

[Everything clean and shiny and fake. Jack sighs before he speaks again.]

I'm looking for something that I lost recently, something that I was hoping someone might've found. [Jack chews on the inside of his cheek for a moment.] It's one of those hairless little...things. I haven't seen it in days. I don't think it could see very well, and I doubt it could swim. If anyone has seen one wandering around-

[He doesn't know how to finish. He cares, and that's never been an easy thing for Jack to show. He takes another deep breath, forcing a smile to his lips.]

Return it and I'm in your debt. Maybe we could even roll around on the beach together, make memories, get sand in our underwear. That sort of thing.

He doesn't bite. [which just confuses jack even more as to why he got so angry, why he now feels actual guilt about it.] And I'll tell you a thing about sand - it chafes. It always sounds like a better idea than it actually is.

[jack takes a second look around, like he might see things a little differently this time.]

It's complicated. What do you think about it?

[Jill knows what chafing sand feels like, but she's not going to share those stories.]

I think it's nice to see a blue sky again. Was starting to feel claustrophobic. That and the food's improved. I'm going to enjoy it while I can.

I suppose the cave can feel that way sometimes. [he was nearly imprisoned in a much smaller space, so he forgets that sometimes.] You don't think it'll last either?

So far, nothing here has lasted more than a few weeks.

[So she expects this will be the same.]

Except for those pets, like the one you have. Those did stick around.

Not mine, apparently. Not that I could blame him.

[She frowns softly.]

Maybe he just got lost. It happens. We'll find him.

[If he cares enough to look for the pet, he must treat it well.]

He ran away. I hope he'll want to return. [there was one day that he didnt treat it well, and even if rage is really to blame, jack's not sure the nug will understand that.] I don't think we've met. What's your name?

[Jill hopes the pet will return, too. He looks pretty crushed without it.]

Jill Valentine. What's yours?

Jack.

[he doesn't leave off his last name deliberately, it just doesn't feel important anymore.]

You said 'we'. Did you mean it?

[Her last name isn't important here. At home, it might have some impact. Stating it is probably out of habit, especially when she's in 'work mode'. When asked if she meant it, she blinks a few times, then nods.]

Of course.

[Jill offered her help because she wanted to help him.]

[he laughs softly, head lowered for a moment. the cave has more than it share of people who baffle him - in good ways.]

Then I'll accept your help and place myself in your debt.

[It seemed natural to offer help. And yet, Will always seemed amazed in the same way when Jill did what came second nature to her. Guess some people weren't used to having a person they could rely on or watch their back.]

Don't worry about it. I just wanna help.
