It has come to my attention [ read as: he stalks the network and read/overheard ] that there are many here who are unfamiliar with the types of weapons in Rage's armory. Given the level of danger in this place, it would be prudent for those of you who do not know how to fight to receive training.

As such, I am offering my services as instructor. While I prefer to fight with a sword and shield myself, I have more than a passing knowledge of most of the weapons in the armory. Should you require instruction I cannot provide myself, I will introduce you to someone who can help.

If you are interested, I may be contacted by these devices or found near house #1502.

That'd be really cool. Someone here suggested for me to try out using a bow since there aren't any guns here, but I have no idea what I'm doing with one.

[He doesn't want to break it, or shoot himself in the foot, or whatever else horrible things might happen if you use a bow wrong.]

Whenever is good; I don't usually have a lot of plans here. Next few days, maybe?

[Assuming some horrible event doesn't happen and delay plans of course but what are the chances of that?]

The morning of the sixteenth, perhaps?

[ oh, they're definitely small. totally. nothing bad's going to happen at all. ]

That would be best. We need to find you a bow with an appropriate size and draw weight.

Good enough to teach the basics.

I've handled a bow before, but not as a primary weapon. More to kill animals than people. Mind giving me a refresher course?

I know armed and unarmed combat. Not sword and shield, but I do know knives.

I would welcome the assistance. [ if only to see how she fights. ] What sort of knives are you familiar with?

You're from a world where sword and shield are acceptable weaponry, aren't you? I'm not sure our terminology overlaps much.

Most combat knives I've seen were sharp along all of one edge and at least part of the other, sometimes with a serrated portion on the reverse edge for utility purposes, but having a knife that differs from that won't be a problem.

Fair enough. If I come across anyone with an aptitude for knives, I may send them your way.

We can spar, too, if you'd like to try your hand at fighting me.

Would your companion be fighting with you?

I hadn't even considered that.

If I can get it to grasp the concept of 'attack, but don't injure or kill', then perhaps.

Certainly. Though meeting by the armory may be easier in that case.

[ and just as stated, about an hour later, Sharon da Silva arrives, short sword in hand. She feels a little awkward about doing this, seeking someone out like this, but she needs some advice. Swords, and bows are very different from firearms she's used to. ]

[ cullen is there when she arrives, shield on his back and sword at his hip. there's a dog laying at his feet--large, but obviously little more than an affectionate puppy if the way it paws at cullen's hands and rolls on its back is any indication.

the second he notices they've got company, the small smile falls off cullen's face as he puts his metaphorical commander hat back on and stands. ]

You're here for lessons? I don't believe I caught your name.

[ It's the dog that catches Sharon's attention first, and it takes a moment for her to pull her blue eyes away from the large, affectionate beast. There aren't too many animals within Hadriel that aren't simply mindless monsters, after all. ]

Uh, Sharon. I'm Sharon da Silva. [ a pause, and then: ] I like your dog.

[ Look, deep down she has a love for cutie animals. Big, slobbery dogs, too. ]
