Grief does not weaken love; it makes it stronger. I welcome Love back into our fold, but I do not know what to do with the items of festivity. I fear I would look strange wrapped in a pink blanket or eating sugared treats in the shape of hearts.

(So inevitably he will not alter his routine. Celebrimbor is an Elf of constancy if nothing else.)

I am happy for all of those who have found love or remember their love fondly. ~~We are not always so blessed.~~

But that matters naught! The defense of our city is still paramount and I encourage all who are new to using weapons to keep practicing or seek the expertise of others. It could save your life.

Furthermore, I will be closing the Forge for a short while in order to scavenge for more materials. Should anyone wish to accompany me, you are welcome.

Can you make anything other than weapons?

Maybe. If I couldn't do it, I doubt another could at any rate.

(Celebrimbor waits in the Forge, standing beside a cooling head of an axe. Once the surface is solid, he will engrave runes upon it. But his attention is on the entry as he waits for Hux. What can the General want?)

[Hux didn't take long to arrive, his datapad in hand. Despite the fact that the Elf wasn't entirely human, what Hux had seen of his work had been fairly decent.]

Celebrimbor, I have commission for you if you are willing to undertake it.

(His head tilts and he drums his fingers, more curious than he wants to let on. He does so love commissions - even when he isn't paid for them, actually. Not that he will let Hux off so easily.)

[Hux switched on the datapad and a holo appeared above the surface. He was careful not to show any indication of what the parts were, he didn't want anyone to know about the weapon if he could help it.]

I need some parts made for a project. I have metal that would work for them but I lack the skill and resources to shape them into the parts I need.

(Holos are a somewhat uncomfortable aspect to technology for him. Celebrimbor grabs onto his cane tightly, steeling himself with the reminder that technology is not magic.)

May I ask your vision of the conclusion of said project? (No, he won't just make parts without knowing what they will eventually do.)

It's for a thermal oscillator.

At the moment, it's merely an experiment to see what alternative power sources can be used here without having to depend on the gods.

[Hux had no issue with lying, he didn't so much as blink or change his tone. At least part of what he was saying was the truth in some form.]

I am unfamiliar with what an oscillator is supposed to do? (Machinery of that grade is simply nonexistent on Arda. But he is very curious.) Does it conduct heat?

In a way. It regulates heat and energy from a power source. Without an oscillator, many devices would simply explode. They make it possible for things like hyperdrives, various engines, and other technology to work.

How will it aid you in searching for alternative power sources? Are you building the main power source elsewhere? (If so, what is it composed of? What can it do? Hux, you're not off the hook yet.)

I haven't found a reliable power source. The hard part is finding something that is relatively stable, though any power source has the potential to be dangerous.

Kyber crystals, for example, are used to power planets [Or Death Stars] but when researchers were developing the technology to harness that power, there were incidents that would wipe out a lab when the power couldn't be contained. Oscillators help prevent that.

If you find a power source - regardless of its stability - I can find a safe place within the caves to test it. I have worked in mines before and the Dwarves are downright reckless with their Forging! Any power contained within Hadriel cannot possibly bring the caverns down around us.

And if I am wrong, at least we will return to where we are meant to be.

That is worth trying, so long as we don't cause the caves to fall in on us.

I can get the metal to you if you are willing to forge the parts, most likely by tomorrow.

Part of the caves might, but what is life without a little risk?

(Celebrimbor does not want to leave his father or his uncle and cousin, but if the caves collapse, they collapse.)
