[In the background can be heard the thudding, drilling noises that started early this morning and haven't stopped for a moment since. While they're still faint enough that it's possible to ignore them, that won't be the case for long.

Hope looks determined, but there's worry visible there too.]

They've found us. If you are on this side, with Fear and I, we need your help. I would ask you to venture into the caves around the city and collapse them - Rage will provide explosives for this, or if you have abilities that make it possible, use them. Go as deep as you can and destroy them on the way back in. We need it to be as difficult as possible for them to get here.

[He winces as a particularly loud noise echoes through the cave.]

It will be dangerous. There are still monsters in there. But we have no other choice - this is the only way to ensure our survival until Fear can transport us out. Thank you for your help.

[The video flickers off. Hope's responses will be brief and limited, as he is quite busy trying to keep everyone alive.]

What would you suggest?

[Mello's words are tense, but there's genuine curiosity in them. This isn't the time for fighting or posturing about whose ideas are better.]

The armory's on the other side of the city, and most of those weapons are designed for close combat anyway. I don't know what kind of monsters live in the caves, but I'm guessing they're not going to be easily taken out with a small knife.

[He... Doesn't really have a suggestion for what would work, which is annoying to say the least. Mello's right in that the armoury is on the other side of the city, so it isn't as simple as just finding people who are good with a sword.]

I um, I don't know. I-It's just uh, a gun might actually be more dangerous than risking trying to stab something up close.

[But then again--]

O-Or I guess maybe as long as people know the risks, they could actually like... Use it to do more collapsing of the tunnels. As long as they don't mind like, blowing their eardrum.

[That's a good point - sound would amplify inside the caves, both from gunshots and the explosions themselves.]

Is there anything we could scavenge to use for ear protection? I don't think we've got a lot of choice when it comes to what we use to defend ourselves. Trying to use a weapon you're not familiar with can be even more dangerous.

Maybe, yeah. It's worth a shot, pun not really intended but I'll take it.

I mean, it's easy enough to just make something work as earplugs, but I don't know if that'd protect enough when you're in an enclosed space.

[Still, it's definitely better than nothing. Also, he's been watching other conversations, and so he should add--]

Also, about uh, the whole finding people with medical knowledge thing, are there still healing trinkets scattered around with charges? And anyone who got Hope's blessing during the competition has healing powers, though they might not know that.

That's right - Sharon set those up. Luckily, she's on this side of the city with us, you could ask her about the exact locations and how many there are. Whatever's available is better than nothing. Do we know who was on Hope's team?

[Mello sat out of the competition in protest, so he doesn't know.]

Right, cool, those'll help then. Uh, the only person I know for sure was on Hope's team is Pell, but I'm not sure which side of the city he's on.

[So he doesn't know a lot either, alas.]

It might be more efficient to just put out a general call for anyone with healing abilities, or anyone who was on Hope's team and received a blessing. You'll have a better chance of reaching anyone on this side of the wall anyway, since the network's harder to get through to the other side.
