[Miriam smiles a little for the camera, though she's tired and it doesn't have the same warmth that you might expect. She's hanging out in her new digs, one of the spire rooms. There are pillows everywhere and soft blankets and a large Rottweiler with his head in her lap.]

Uh, hey people. I was here before and then I wasn't, and now I'm here again. Weird, right?

Anyway, I just wanted to let people know that this dude is Barnaby. [She tilts the camera toward Barnaby. He grunts.] And he's my dude. So don't shoot him or you'll be really sorry. He won't be nice if you try anything.

[She smiles again.]

So, any of you with freaky voodoo powers? 'cause I could use some of that right 'bout now.

[She's so starry-eyed she completely forgets to switch to text like she usually does. Most people don't take to well to a lizard person, considering the city is usually under siege by nonhuman forces. But she's just really enamored by Barnaby.]

[Whoooa. A lizard person! Miriam brightens.]

Yeah. Barnaby's my best dude. Aren't ya, buddy?

[Barnaby snorts, pressing his very wet nose against her hand.]

I don't remember you. But you can come play with Barnaby if you want. He's nice.

[Jeez. She wishes her dog friend was that small and cute and not with a face like a dripping void. Probably better they're not around.]

Sorry, uhm, I don't t-think we'd met, uh-- I just. I got really excited about, uhm, a cute dog.

[Dogs are cute!!! If a little boisterous. But they always remind her of Undyne, so...]

I'm sorry for, uh, c-coming out of the blue like that. I'm Alphys. Dr. Alphys, uhm, really.

[Seriously. Miriam fluffs Barnaby's ears up. He sighs but puts up with it.]

Hey, Doc. I'm Miriam. I don't remember you. But it seems like there's a lot of new people now.

I've only been here, uh, a couple months. Well, uhm, maybe it's c-closer to... 7, now? I think it was October here.

[She wasn't very present for those first couple months, anyway. Lots of hiding in the apartment.]

It, uh, t-took a long time for me to get settled.

Figures. This place is pretty weird. Probably the weirdest I've ever been stuck in and I've been in the shit. Barnaby too. But he's all right. He's cool with Hadriel.

[Barnaby snorts.]

There's lotsa stuff for him to eat here!

Yeah, uh, I g-guess dogs aren't as picky about food.

[The dogs she knew sure weren't.]

As long as, uhm, you can be happy here, I guess. Which uh, is p-probably greatly improved having someone so close by your side.

People can come back?

[This is somewhat relevant to their interests. Extremely relevant.]

Uh- welcome back! I like your dog.

Guess they can.

[Miriam grins.]

He's pretty awesome, isn't he?

That's pretty cool.

[And they smile back, easily enough.]

Yeah. Does he like hugs? He looks like he does.

[Miriam blows a puff of air into Barnaby's ears. He chuffs, tail wagging.]

He does, yeah. He's a big old baby. What's your name, anyway? I don't remember you.

[The action has Frisk hiding a smile behind their sleeve; dogs? Dogs are great.]

I'm Frisk. I don't remember you either.

Hey, Fisk.

[She smiles a little.]

Well, you know me now.

Whoa, you're back. That sucks. [wait, shit--] I mean, it's good to see you. It just sucks you had to be back in murdercavehell again.

[She gives him a little grin.]

Yeah. But I mean, what're you gonna do? You're still here, too.

God, right? At least you missed some really awful shit.

I kinda figured that. Looks like a bomb went off.

[Miriam's pretty glad she missed that. Though---]

Well, duh. But in the movies, the evil clones are always uber hot. It's like a rule or something.

[ He has so many questions but he's not going to bombard her with them just yet because he just noticed someone else was with her!! ]

Barnaby! Hey buddy, how's it going?

[ Can you tell he missed her dog much? ]

Yeah. Apparently that happens sometimes.

[She flashes him a grin. Barnaby sneezes.]

Barnaby! Barnaby, say hi!

[Barnaby grunts.]

Well, he'll say hi when he sees you in person. He doesn't quite get video stuff.

It's good to have you back but I'm sorry you're back at the same time... If that makes sense?

[ He wanted to ask her about going back home. If she could remember being here at all or what happened? He wanted to ask her about the people she'd told him about, the ones on top... He wanted to make sure she'd been okay. ]

Ah, it's okay. I'm just some colors and sound through this thing anyway, I doubt he'd recognize me. But I'll have to come see him soon. I have some dog food I made if you want some?

Yeah. I'm getting that.

[Weird shit all around.]

Yeah. Yeah! You got fish, right? He likes fish.

[ Will smiles at the mention of fish. ]

I've been doing a lot of fishing actually. I have some dried back in the apartment, or some raw I caught this morning?

[ Honestly, Will would go catch something or make something now if it means he gets to hang out with Barnaby again. ]

Raw! Raw is better.

[Miriam grins at him. She missed Will. She's remembering that now. He's cool. A little weird, sometimes, but nice to Barnaby.]

[ Honestly, Will likes her too, not just because she has a really big, really awesome dog but because her nature is so refreshing.

Smiling and nodding, making a note on their preference. ]

Next time I'm out fishing, you should both stop by? I can teach you how to fish without a rod, make it easier for even Barnaby to catch more fish.

Really? That'd be so cool!

[She wants to learn how to fish! Though...

Miriam pauses, scrunching up her face.]

Uh. Can you do it one-handed?

Sure thing, it's actually a fun little technique... If you don't mind getting a little splashed that is.

[ Will smiled, until the comment about doing it one handed. Just what had happened to her when she went back home? Will started to fear the worst. ]

You can. It's no big deal if you use one or two hands... How come you asked?

[It sounds kinda fun, and she wants to learn how to do new things.

Her smile wavers a little. He's going to find out eventually, so...

She unzips her jacket just enough to show where she's hiding her stump, tucked up against her chest.]

I, uh. Kinda had a bad day.

[ It really was a fun technique. Even Winston was getting good at it!

Will swallows, already fearing the worst and his mind racing with worry for the girl. Hadn't she had enough to deal with?

As she unzipped her jacket and showed him her arm, or well, what was left of it Will felt a lump in his throat knot up. ]

Miriam... I'm sorry... If there's anything I can do, anything at all?...

You an' me both, pullin' the disappearin' act then coming right back!

[Amos grins and waves at the screen. He's not happy she's back, exactly, but happy to see a familiar face, always.]

[Miriam brightens.]

Amos! You too, huh?

Me too, honey. Good to see you doin' well.

Give Barnaby an extra pat for me, a'ight?

Yeah, I'm still kickin'.

Sure! You should come and play with him sometime. He likes yuo.

I'll certainly do that, sugar, an' come see your cute self too.

[Because she is mighty cute. Amos grins cheerfully, and makes a note to bring her some of the chocolate he has stashed away.]

Well, look who came back.

[The girl with the dog. Ushahin remembers her well and it shows in the faint smile that goes across his face.]

[Dude with the birds!]

Yep! Back and badder than ever! Or you know. Something.

[Miriam grins, then pauses.]

Hey, you've got magic and shit, right?

I am glad to see you, though I wish it was under better circumstances.

[Things haven't exactly been peachy-keen around here since Miriam left.]

Indeed I do. Of the dreamwalking and mind-reading kind.

Oh. [Miriam's smile fades a little. She holds up her right arm enough to show the place where her hand just isn't, anymore.] Guess you can't do anything about this, then.

Satoris' wounds, child! [That's as close as Ushahin ever gets to cursing. He looks shocked.] I am afraid not. My powers lie only in the realm of the mind. What happened to you?

[Miriam tucks her arm away. Barnaby whines and bumps her with his nose.]

I had a bad day. 's okay. Figured I'd ask, you know?

I've had days like that. [Days where he had gone through the worst pain imaginable and still lived through it. Still, if she's managed to cope this long, she'll be just fine. Miriam's touch enough.] Maybe you could make a deal with one of the gods?

Thinkin' about it. [Maybe. She's wary of making deals, though. They go wrong.] But I wanna know what I'm buying it with first. Otherwise I might be worse off.

That is a wise decision. Some of them here seem to have more of a liking for humanity than others. In the meantime, is there anything I can do? [He cares about her as much as he cares about anyone in the cave. It might be a foolish way of thinking, but Ushahin can't help it.]
