I believe I'm saying this but I miss mouse droids. I would even take an older model.

Ben could handle it too. [His grandson has some nice muscles, but that's to be expected of a Force user. In general, that is.]

I have no doubt as to that. [Hux can vouch for that, he rather likes Ren's muscles. But that's a conversation he's not having with Anakin.]

There is something to be said for the element of surprise and I prefer it if people underestimate me.

You know what I haven't underestimated? Your sense of humor. It still needs a lot of work. [But this is partially why he likes him.]

With the help of you and Ben, I think you can admit I'm making progress.

[Don't look like someone just ran nude through your ship singing at the top of their lungs, Hux. These are very normal emotions. Not that Anakin has any experience with them either.]

I like that you have a personality. Some soldiers are no better than droids - and sometimes worse!

The clones didn't have personalities?

[Good, moving away from emotions, this will let his brain to recover. These are not normal emotions for Hux but he's starting to adjust.]

I know Imperial officers are taught to behave in a certain manner and that makes them rather predictable and well, the same.

[He would now, considering he grew up in an Imperial academy for a few years.]

I'm sure they did - do. But it has been programmed out of them so that they can be efficient. [He hasn't really made close friendships with any clones.] Exactly. When a unit acts as one, they can be deadly, but as people, they are rather dull.

It's what made the Empire efficient. Stormtroopers and lower ranked officers were the same. But it's possible to exploit that when you know what to predict. It was possible to even predict what officers like Piett and Tarkin would do in any given situation.

[And Hux is sure he is predictable as well, in some regards, but no one had been expecting Starkiller. No one had expected that anyone would be able to make a weapon like that work and would be willing to use it.]

Efficiency can be boring. I'd rather have someone around I can't fully - or easily - predict. [Someone human.] Would you joke with a Stormtrooper? It wouldn't last long.

I suppose I would have to agree, it would be boring if either of you were simply predictable. [Guess that's the charm of the Skywalkers.]

No, it wouldn't be proper for a general to joke with a stormtrooper either.

That's a shame. I've heard some pretty good jokes in the middle of battles. [Okay they are more smart ass remarks but they are funny.]

Padmé once called using a blaster on enemies "aggressive negotiations" instead of "diplomatic solutions". That was funny coming from her since she always sought the latter in and out of the Senate.

That's rather amusing, I heard she knew how to use a blaster fairly well.

She is an expert with a blaster. You'd think she wouldn't be able to handle one, but I've seen her take out a bunch of droids in a short period of time.

I learned about the Battle of Naboo during some of my history lessons, she was said to have been mostly responsible for winning that battle against the Trade Federation so I'm not surprised.

She was. Without her, the Gungans would have never agreed to aid anyone. [Diplomacy. He has never been very good or patient where that is concerned.] I had a hand in it too. Surprisingly.
