[ She really should have just done voice - or text - but Hannah isn't exactly in her right mind today. There's a wildness in her eyes and in her tone that is more than obvious, her entire bearing just... bordering on panic. ]
Has anyone seen Beth? My sister - I can't find her.
[ It's not that it's unusual to find one of the twins out of their room before the other, but it is strange to have Beth... seem totally gone, not responding to calls or messages, having left no note of explanation... ]
She isn't here, she isn't - answering, and - God, if anything happens to her...!
[ "My little sister is dead. The fall killed her..." The first pieces of what Matt had found and showed to Hannah claw at her brain, unrelenting. ]
I've gotta go out there and find her. I won't leave her.
[ No one found them when they fell, apparently, but that doesn't mean she'll give up. Not on Beth. Not for anything. ]

stay where you are, im heading to you with wolfie
[She already checked the network and confirmed Beth's gone like Matt and Sam and the others, but she'll let Hannah have some hope for a little longer.
In a few minutes, thanks to Confusion's GPS, she finds Hannah.]
Hey. Come on. Just breathe, okay?
action
I am breathing. [ Sort of. ] And if you think you can convince me to hang around here and - wait for her, then - you're wrong.

[Sass isn't going to help, except in maybe giving Hannah a sense of normalcy or something more immediate to focus on. Beth is gone, end of story. That's a lot to process. If she can vent at something and someone who's actually here, maybe it'll help.]
We're going to go look for her. Find something with Beth's scent on it for Wolfie to smell.

Okay. Her stuff's still in our room. [ She heads that way, heart clenching again at the thought that Beth might be gone. She snags one of her sister's sweaters and heads back out, holding it to Wolfie to sniff. ]
If she's gone... [ Hannah begins, voice tight with emotion. ]

He stays by Emily's side when Hannah comes back, but he does lean in to sniff the sweater. Then he pulls away and sniffs the air and starts to move towards the twins' room.]
You still have me and Chris. [Emily finishes the sentence quietly but firmly. It's not much, and it's not what Hannah wants, but it's all Emily can give her. If Beth is gone, she's dead. That's the one thing everyone's story agreed on, no matter what else they experienced that night.
But at least...]
If she's gone, then at least she was here for as long as she was.
[Emily watches Hannah for a moment. Her friend's sadness almost palpable.] Come on, Han. [Off to Hannah and Beth's room, where they both already know Beth isn't.]

She's back there and she's dead, Emily. [ Worse than that, the knowledge of which turns her stomach in the worst way. ] I don't want to be here without her, I don't deserve to be here when her dying is all my fault! If I hadn't overreacted to that stupid prank, then she wouldn't have followed me out there, and...
[ Her throat closes up, the words ceasing. After a pause, though, she does go to the room she shared with Beth, where, of course, there is no Beth. Not anymore. ]
I already know she's not in here. [ She mutters sharply. ]

Except, maybe, for the slim hope Glacius gave Emily what feels like forever ago.
She lets Hannah talk, every word of her friend's raw sadness a reminder of the pain and trauma her insecurity caused. It's not until Wolfie walks back out of the room and brushes against Emily's leg as he goes that she's able to shove her guilt aside. THis isn't about her. This is about Hannah.]
She's not here anymore. Anywhere. [There's no point lying about it, not when it won't make the truth any less painful when it comes time to accept it.] Beth's not dead because of you, Han. It's-- it's the rest of us who fucked up.
You know what Glacius told me? [Now she turns so she's facing Hannah fully.] He said there's technology where he's from that lets people travel through dimensions. He said, maybe there's a world where all of us -- all of us are okay. Where we all went out there to find you guys and the only bad thing that happened was that stupid prank.
I know it's not enough right now. [And maybe it never will be.] But it's possible. I'm-- god, Hannah, I'm so sorry.
[She wants to go for a hug, but she holds her ground. Hannah might want nothing more than to be alone for a while, and Emily won't deny her that. But if she wants a shoulder to cry on, Emily is here and willing.]

If there's a 'world' where we're all okay, it's still not our world. [ Hannah mutters, trying not to show Emily the sting of tears building in her eyes. ] My sister is still dead, and I -
[ God. No, no, she can't think about that, about what she heard. What she read. ]
You lost Matt. [ She mutters tearfully, chancing a look at her friend. "We all lost him." ] And Chris lost Ash... I'm not the only one.
[ She isn't alone in her losses, not by a long shot. ]

[Emily isn't stupid. She can see plain as day how this is upsetting Hannah. Hearing about Matt and Ash again makes it even clearer, though it's still not quite the same as what Hannah has to deal with.]
Anyone in this cave could disappear at any moment. Everyone's lost someone. And it sucks, but... it's not over. They could come back. [She shrugs, looking as defeated as she feels.] That's the only thing we know for sure.
no subject
[ Alone, like a girl stuck in a cave.
She glances at Wolfie, blinking, as if seeing him for the first time. ]
Why did he stay when Mike left? Didn't they show up together?
no subject
[And it's bullshit. Emily sighs, defeated, frowning. She's not good at this the way Sam is. Emily is the tough love friend, where Sam is gentle and understanding. And Hannah's best friend, and so someone who'd know far better what to do right now.]
I don't know, [she answers, looking at Wolfie.] The Door is weird. [And that's a true statement.] How fucked up is it that Mike of all people hasn't had to deal with all the shit that goes on here. [Her voice is sharp there because guess who's still mad at Mike and finds it easier to blame everything on him.] Wolfie deserves better than this, but I'm glad he's here. That's selfish, but...
[She shrugs and turns to look at Hannah.] I'm glad you're here too. I'm here for you, okay? Whatever you need. As long as I'm still in this shithole with you, I'm here for you.
no subject
Thanks. [ Hannah replies, because she doesn't know what else to say. Nothing she or Emily does will bring Beth back, or any of the others. It won't make any of this less painful. ] ... I get that she's - gone, but... I feel like it's giving up, just saying that and doing nothing.
[ Like some people maybe did after the twins vanished back home. ]
How did he even get to be friends with a wolf, anyway? [ She asks weakly, looking down at the creature. ]
i love when my finger slips and i pick the wrong icon lmao >:|
I don't really know. [She shrugs.] When he and Sam were here, Sam told me something about how Wolfie went through this creepy sanatorium with him. I guess that's where he and that guy with the journal and the flamethrower, Jack, lived.
[Which disproves Emily's warning that Wolfie bites assholes. He didn't bite Mike, king of the assholes. Oh well.]
!!!
[ Oh. Right. The guy who'd been chasing off the wendigos before they'd fallen from the cliff. The guy who'd tried to save them.
Suddenly, Wolfie doesn't seem as interesting a mystery. Hannah goes quiet, sinking against the base of her own bed. ]
Got it. [ She says, finally, in a small voice. ]
