[ She really should have just done voice - or text - but Hannah isn't exactly in her right mind today. There's a wildness in her eyes and in her tone that is more than obvious, her entire bearing just... bordering on panic. ]

Has anyone seen Beth? My sister - I can't find her.

[ It's not that it's unusual to find one of the twins out of their room before the other, but it is strange to have Beth... seem totally gone, not responding to calls or messages, having left no note of explanation... ]

She isn't here, she isn't - answering, and - God, if anything happens to her...!

[ "My little sister is dead. The fall killed her..." The first pieces of what Matt had found and showed to Hannah claw at her brain, unrelenting. ]

I've gotta go out there and find her. I won't leave her.

[ No one found them when they fell, apparently, but that doesn't mean she'll give up. Not on Beth. Not for anything. ]

[ Duck can be found at the bottom of Spire Three, gun swinging by his side, looking around for Hannah. ]

[ When she sees a kid with a gun, Hannah stops short, eyes widening. ]

You're - [ Um. How not to be insulting, here... ] Are... you the person I'm meeting about my sister Beth?

[quacked]

Yeah, that's me. [ Duck looks up and offers a small smile of reassurance. It doesn't even enter his head that maybe she wasn't expecting help from a small, skinny preteen boy. ] Are you okay? We'll - We'll find her, don't worry.

[wendigoner]

[ No, she wasn't expecting it at all. It makes her heart lurch with worry for this kid, that he'd been brought to this horrible place. And also that he has a gun that he seems to be able to use. ]

And you, um... you knew her? [ She asks again, as she tries to figure out whether or not she should turn down his help or not. ]

[quacked]

Yeah! Uh, not- not that well. But we hung out a few times. She was nice to me when I first got here and helped me look for comics and - she was my friend.

[ Admittedly, Duck considers anyone who's nice to him a friend, but that doesn't make it less true to him. He genuinely wants to make sure she's okay. ]

[wendigoner]

[ Hannah nods mutely, still debating whether or not this is vastly irresponsible of her. ]

... It could be dangerous. [ She says finally, fidgeting. ] Going out and looking for her, I mean.

[quacked]

That's okay, I can handle it. I see dangerous stuff all the time and I'm prepared, see? [ He holds up his gun. ] You shouldn't go by yourself.

[wendigoner]

You have a gun? [ Had he mentioned that? Probably. Her brain is swimming, drowning. ] ... Okay. Okay. If you're sure...

[ She can put all her energy into watching out for him. That's something, right? ]

I guess we should go, then?

[quacked]

Yes, okay! [ He's relieved, afraid she wasn't going to let him for a moment. But this way he can help, he's sure he can, and feel useful. ]

Um, where first? Is there anywhere she liked to go more than other places?

The clinic. [ Hannah answers promptly. ] She liked to help people and volunteer there. She was really good at it...

[ Beth has always taken care of her, so it makes sense that she'd enjoy doing the same for others, Before. ]
