ONE; [VIDEO]
Is anyone in Hadriel familiar with the bowyer's art?
I did not have my bow with me when I've passed through the Door, and I've spent the past few days on the hunt for a replacement. There are a few in the Armory which may suffice, but if we shall see battle I'd prefer one suited for my hand.
I can make it myself given the right tools and components, so I was simply wondering whether there was a way to obtain them. I would need certain types of wood, and animal horn and sinew would be preferable if I could lay hands on them. I'd even take some from the monsters of the caves, if any would be suitable for the task.
[Private, to the Feanorians]
On a related subject, I was hoping to get an expert opinion on salvaging my armor. I suppose the helm's a loss, but I think the rest of it can be repaired.
Are any of you free to take a look?
[Private, to Maedhros]
Would you accompany me out if a lead looks promising? Or if not, in truth, I'm going mad from inaction.

{Private Video}
{Maedhros smiles, wry and fond.} We cannot have you grow so bored! And some exercise is far from a poor idea.
{Private Video}
I will be happy if I never spend another moment on bedrest in the lifetime of Arda. How do Men stand it when they fall ill?
{Private Video}
{A sad little smile.} I doubt anything could have withstood what you faced, Finno.
We will have to see to you not needing to! {Maedhros will happily see to it personally.}
{Private Video}
Ah, Russandol! If only feelings could be banished by such sterling good sense!
I do like the sound of that proposal. Is there anywhere in particular of interest?
{Private Video}
If they could, we might all be better off than we are.
{Maedhros shrugs.} There are some hot springs you might enjoy. And there are a few shops to visit.
{Private Video}
Still, we shall have to manage. We muddle along well enough together, don't we?
[Fingon looks interested.] I hadn't checked the shops yet; I'd been busy with the armory. Is there anything you'd prefer at the moment?
{Private Video}
We do. We work well together.
{A faint grin.} I have not gone into the shops lately, only checked to ensure the safety of people.
{Private Video}
[Another long pause.] Nearly everything I own must be in orc hands by now, if I didn't bring it here...though that's a stupid and selfish thing to think about, isn't it? After everything?
And we always shall.
[Fingon's answering smile is bright and encouraging.] Ever vigilant, as I would have thought...but come, Maitimo. Let's see more of these shops, without worrying over their inhabitants unless it becomes necessary.
{Private Video}
{A pause himself.} Not everything. Kano and I took what we could with us. I expect Kano still has some of it. {If Maglor still lives.}
Gladly! I will not be long.
{Private Video}
...Well, that's something. [He winces at the thought of poor Maglor But so much lost...all that my father and our people sought to build. I thought before this....[Fingon trails off, then shakes his head abruptly.] Well, it can't be changed now.
Then I will see you soon, Russandol.
video;
You may get horn and sinew easily enough from the caves. But yew?
[He scoffs, suggesting the impossibility of that. He is not a bowyer, but he is both excellent and experienced with a longbow.]
One supposes that you might ask Sorrow about creating appropriate wood, as he grows the orchard. Rage would likely be able to provide a bow that matches your desires. The armoury is her work. But her price may well be unfavourable. Can you not adapt one from the armoury's stock?
video
Yew would have been welcome, though I had a few other woods in mind as well as possibilities. [Fingon's an able hand at the longbow, but his preference is for the composite bow.] There are some in the armory that I would not object to, and it does indeed seem a poor idea to indebt oneself to Powers so quickly.
But craft matters deeply to my people, and I find my hands long for a project.
no subject
[Henry pushes a hand through his hair. Having removed his gauntlets in order to do paperwork, it's bare.]
You must compromise, whatever choice you make.
[He shrugs as if to suggest there's not much more to be said on the subject, before cocking his head as he considers the resemblance.]
...It seems the Door is fond of your family.
no subject
[Fingon tilts his head back and laughs at that.] Most people at home would call us an acquired taste, at best. But interesting people seem to be the city's favorite kind, and my family has certainly never been boring.
May I ask which of my clever cousins gave me away? Not Maedhros, I suspect, he's always taken more after his mother's kin.
no subject
I know both Celebrimbor and Curufin.
[Not well, but on friendly terms nonetheless.]
no subject
Crazy Uncle Feanor often insisted on saying half-cousins, but he was always a stubborn ass.]Ah. From the guard, I take it? Or their work in the forge?
no subject
[He confirms. His mouth briefly quirks, a flash of momentary amusement.]
Though I have availed myself of Celebrimbor's work before.
no subject
[It seems a safe assumption, and Fingon's been curious about the guard]
Then you've been fortunate; Celebrimbor was a prodigy at the forge, and I imagine he's become even better since I last saw his work.
no subject
One of two. Henry Percy, a knight of England.

no promises. i work with everyday clothes and fabrics, not real armor, but i can try

Who knows? The experience may be of use to you some day.

what material are we talking here?

Would you require payment? I've little to trade at the moment, but I could surely manage something.

My thanks for the offer, Madam Emily.

His eyes flick offscreen, to where his split helm currently rests.] Yes, that would be the most straightforward option. Should I bring it down to you?
(Video)
Please. Your helm is a fine creation. I will not smelt it unless I have no other choice.
(Video)
It has been some time since I've been off to bother a relative in the forge. You'll see me soon.
[Some time later, Celebrimbor will hear a rap on the door.]
(Video) -> (Action)
You are no bother unless...
You wish to be?
(Smiling, he sets down his a hammer and uses his cane to walk to the door. He opens it and pulls Fingon into a one-armed embrace.)
Welcome, cousin.
(Video) -> (Action)
Oh, I rather enjoyed it, then and now. [Your grandfather turned the most interesting colors the first time he'd struck his head in to look for Maedhros, Telpe.
Fingon returns that embrace gladly]
My thanks for the invitation. [Looking around the forge] Only the best for the Feanorian smiths, I see. What have you been working on here?
[ Video ]
But Celebrimbor can help you with the crafts, if you prefer. He's a master smith, as you know, so the armor should not be a problem. And neither would the bow.
We work in the same facility -- it's a couple of small buildings between the woods and the river, which you'll find easily if you follow the river southeast. Come down between Confusion's temple and the southernmost bridge, and you'll see the forge shack first. You can't miss it.
[ Video ]
Yes, Celebrimbor's offered to take a look at it, though I'd hardly mind if you did as well. My thanks for the directions, cousin; I'll be over with it shortly.
[ Video ]
Good, then I'll see you soon. And after that, perhaps I'll head off to the tunnels to hunt up some beasts to provide us with high-quality sinew.
[ Video ]
I was fortunate; for much of my time in Hithlum I only needed to handle the military logistics. After the Bragollach, of course, my workload rather proliferated. [There's an awkward beat for a moment, then Fingon gives a dry smile] Well, at least I'm not reminiscing fondly about some of the land disputes; that would be a reason to be alarmed.
I will see you then.
[ Video ]
[ Indeed. After Fingolfin's death, Fingon was not only king of Hithlum but High King of the Eldar. Whereas, Curufin was landless and trying to amend that situation by stealing Finrod's kingdom. ] True. I would not use the word "fond" for such memories. [ Small, rueful laugh. ]
All right, if you hear a lot of hammering or other racket inside, just knock louder. [ He clicks off. ]
