So, uh. I've been told that I should get out more. Meet people. I'm not any good at that, so you're just gonna have to--bear with me as I figure this shit out. But I guess I've gotta bite the bullet sometime, right?

[she looks off camera and flushes slightly out of a combination of nerves and embarrassment]

Anyway, I'm George. I'm newish. I have--no fucking idea what I'm doing here. Does anyone? If you do, could you please fill me in.

Yeah. I mean, most people I reaped just seemed [shrugs] ordinary. And the way they went was usually messy.

I had to reap murders, accidents, and suicides. The suicides were the worst. They'd always ask me to take it back.

They can all see us. Both before and after they die. And reaping a murder was the same as reaping anyone else. Get in, get the name, take the soul, and just . . .let it happen.

[Jo doesn't do well in situations where she doesn't have a choice. Even here she feels like there's kind of a choice. She can choose what to do, what to feel.

[George versus Rube (her boss) was a classic case of an immovable object meeting an irresistible force. he never understood her desire for something approaching a normal life, even though she was dead]

...Rube said that if I couldn't do it, I'd be sent where I couldn't like or dislike anything anymore. That just sounded--a little too scary to me.

That seems unfair. [Jo is still very glad she isn't from the world that George is. Knowing her luck she'd end up as a Reaper too.]

Then these people really didn't get it. That, or they'd spent so much time among the dead, they forgot what it was like to be alive.
