[Seel looks kind of pathetic. In the backdrop was an organized mess. Like he'd been trying to make meals and take care of a living space, but the last time he had to do that he'd barely begun puberty. Taking care of himself was not one of his many skills. The can or two in view of the camera might have been something edible. It might also have been cat food.]

I can't take care of myself. I need help.

[She grew up with a great deal of wealth and privilege as a noble, and still, she'd always prized self-sufficiency. To the point that every time she was angry with her father, she'd made a point of learning something he'd deem servant's work. It's helped her in the long run.

Has anyone explained how the appliances in your home work as of yet? They take some getting used to, but they do make things more convenient.

Ikaruga had a lot more going for her than Seel did. When he first struck out on his own, he had someone with him to take care of the house and cooking. Granted there might have been a slight miscommunication about that, Flick thought they were rather close, and Seel thought he was a glorified servant. Then, Seel got married, and there were more servants. He'd never had to learn how to take care of himself. Why should he. There were always someone willing to help out and do it for him.]

No, I can't say they have. If you'd be able to explain what it does and how to work it that would certainly help.

We can start with the cooking appliances. The smaller one that is apparently called a microwave can cook things the fastest. It also has a button that can freeze food, which can be convenient for preserving it for a later date.

[She's just going to walk over to where her appliances are and turn the video from her device to the buttons, finger pointing at each one as she explains.]

This is the one for freezing, and this is the one for heating. Most things require no more than a few minutes to heat up. Ah...and make sure not to put metal in it. I've been told that can break the microwave and be a safety hazard.

That's a microwave? [Seel looked dubious. He remembered those from when he was been human. Like 50 years ago.That did not look like a microwave.] I don't remember microwaves being able to freeze food.

[He had to smile at the metal warning. That much he remembered, having done it on purpose a couple times when he was younger.] Thanks. I won't do that.

Does this place happen to have like frozen meals or just canned stuff you actually have to put together? [cause actually making food? That might be a challenge.]

Apparently. Microwaves do not exist in my world, so I have no point of comparison.

[The technology fueled by magic was fairly advanced, but the rest of her world's technology was much simpler.]

I have never checked for frozen meals, but it appears to mostly be canned things you have to put together, or fresh fruit and vegetables from the orchard. Some of the cave creatures are edible, too.

[Ahh she picked up on that did she? Calling himself royalty wasn't something he was used to, but he supposed he was in the grand scheme of things. When you were Consort to the Autarch of an entire continent, that did have certain connotations. Nobility maybe. Royalty left an uncomfortable taste in his mouth.]

I don't suppose I have much of a choice.

[ She misses no beats. She's cared for many people in her short amount of time alive, healing the ill, sending the dead, and even simply taking care of fussy eaters, sleepers, and Yuri. ]

Where can I visit you? I made bread the other night and it's still soft; it's lovely with some good fruit and vegetables and even a little wine!

[Seel needs a caregiver, he's 58, and never figured out how to take care of himself. Up until now he's never had too. As she can probably figure out he was quite the temper and it doesn't always manifest at the best of times.]

Perhaps that's selfish of me but I think I'm all right with that. [ Honestly. There's little that indicates she's lying, gaze soft and understanding. ]

That sounds like a fair trade. When my best friend was here he used to bake a lot, and I find I miss it.

[ He has some bitterness deep down and Alice cannot blame him. The world is reason enough to develop a shell of bitterness to fight back against the lies, the cheats, the thieves, those that manipulate. She understands but frowns regardless. His apology leaves her shaking her head, though much slower. ]

It can be quite the stress reliever, though finding all the proper ingredients can be much more of a hassle than I ever found it to be back home. [ She won't touch upon that bitterness. He realizes what he'd said. There's no reason to go over it. ] Is there anything in particular your friend made? Perhaps I could make it and bring you something to remind you of such friendship.
