seven ☠ voice/text
Well... seems like there's a few of you who are ready to sell us out.
[His voice is soft- not really angry, but there's a sinister lilt to it.]
And here I thought we were all growing to be one big, happy family. I can't say I'm fond of the necessity of weeding out spies in our city, but... listen, we're all in a flurry about this. We need to do something, and everyone wants a say in how we're supposed to move forward from here.
[Which has been a headache and a half for all of the gods. Sure, they get along in the grand scheme of things, but there's definitely a little clash of ideals going on, and frankly, Fear is tired of the arguing.]
So what I thought we'd do is to have you vote on who's in charge here. Who takes action and comes up with a game plan on how we're going to suss out what the Null are planning. Obviously, Sorrow wants to be our fearless leader, but his methods are a little... direct. Delight and Rage would probably have a little murder mystery party when they get back, Tranquility and Confusion- I'm not sure if they'd actually do anything at all, come to think of it.
[Christ, this is a mess.]
As far as Love and myself go... I can think of a few people I'd like to personally interrogate.
Anyway, cast your votes or ask your standard slew of questions. Yes, I realize that some of the dissenters will be voting, yeah I know that you all want to be in charge instead- there's probably a few of us who might bend our ears to you, but as we can't put a hundred people in charge, it's gonna be one of us.
[A pause.]
Sorry.
[Happy voting?]

[So is Hope not going to be actually participating much, or is he just sort of easily bullied by Sorrow? Chris could see either answer.
Also guys this is not going to help with public opinion.]
[He shrugs.]
But he's the only one of us that has much of a sway with Sorrow, so he'd probably continue to advocate for you and soften Sorrow up a bit when it comes to dealing with- whatever this is.
[Though that makes voting difficult because wow does he not want to deal with any of these pairs. Then again he's going to just hope he's pretty safe on the subject anyway; he's made it no secret where he stands on this whole thing.]
But uh, I mean, I get the whole point of this and that you've got to do something, but this whole thing kind of... Might convince people that the Null's side of things isn't so bad. This isn't going to make anyone more likely to be on your side, basically.
[He asks- actually a little genuine.]
Let them convince those of you who already hate us to kill our only chance of survival? We've watched entire civilizations be razed by the Null- all of our culture, our cities, our loved ones... gone. If some of us [Looking at you, Sorrow and Hope.] are defensive, we have good reason to be.
[Fear shakes his head, sighing. He doesn't like sounding like Sorrow.]
You didn't see us when we were thriving. We were better than this once, but these are desperate times. We don't have room for mistakes.
[Chris finds that he doesn't exactly feel threatened himself, for various reasons from having talked with Hope about the Null issue to having gotten pretty used to Fear at this point, but he definitely remembers how scary it was at first. He has a feeling a lot of people are getting kind of a sinister vibe from this announcement, and that's only more likely to make them think maybe the Null are the better choice after all.]
[That actually makes him smile a little, despite the grave subject matter.]
I can't exactly help being what I am. How should I be putting things?
[Though that might be mostly because not everyone has figured out that Fear is... Not actually personally that scary, though Chris decides not to mention that part.]
I mean, I think it's like... People are freaked, and they're kind of just trying to do whatever is going to get them the best result, right? And this post kind of implies that if you figure out who's spying, it's gonna be really bad for them, so that's just making people more likely to think maybe they should take their chances with Null.
[But then again--]
Though I guess it's not like you have a whole lot of options, but I dunno. Honestly I think just straight up telling people what you'd do about spies would actually be better than the vagueness. I mean, you guys are creeping me out a little with the implied threats thing.
[And he's pretty sure they know he's on their side about this, and so has nothing to worry about, but it's still a little unsettling.]
[Why... is that something that people are gonna hate them about HUMANS SUCK SO MUCH, but okay, he takes a breath and tries to refocus here.]
I don't know what we'd do. Take away their network device for awhile so they can't coordinate with the Null? Ask them to pretty please not do it again? Murder is off the table, as per Hope. What do humans do when you betray one another?
I dunno, I mean, it kind of depends on what the betrayal is about. Someone cheating on you kind of gets a different sort of reaction than like, plotting to kill you.
[Usually, anyway. Some people are crazy.]
[Since it seemed to be the worse of the two examples and it is what's happening now.]
[But he's neither sure how practical or effective that'd be here, considering the circumstances.]
Also like, I don't think the people who are on the Null's side are exactly seeing it that way. I think to them it's a lot more like self defense, which is not a crime at all.
[Your legal system is a bit fucked up.]
Would you not say that what we've done is also self defense?
[He shrugs a little at Fear's last question, and nods.]
Yeah. Or maybe not self-defense exactly, but survival; it's not like this whole thing is for fun. You all legit have to do the events and stuff to survive, and I guess that's why I'm personally not pissed about it anymore; you guys have a right to live too.
[It's a complicated situation anyway.]
You can consider this investigation to be us not turning our backs on you, then- to avoid that knife.
[It's not like he thinks it's something that really deserves appreciation; all he's saying is that they don't deserve to die for no reason. Even if the situation's definitely complicated, he wishes everyone could agree on that much at least.]
I guess that's fair, yeah. And I mean, I'm not planning on doing any shanking anyway, back or otherwise.
[So really, this is everyone else's problem, and if they're really considering killing Hope then they kind of deserve the scrutiny as long as it doesn't go too overboard.]
[He offers a smile, though it's not the most reassuring expression in the world.]
I'll remember this- for later.
hopefullymeant.]Ominous, but okay, cool.
[He's half joking on the ominous part.]
I'll uh, let you get back to the planning, though. Thanks for um, listening to the stuff I was worried about.
