Well... seems like there's a few of you who are ready to sell us out.

[His voice is soft- not really angry, but there's a sinister lilt to it.]

And here I thought we were all growing to be one big, happy family. I can't say I'm fond of the necessity of weeding out spies in our city, but... listen, we're all in a flurry about this. We need to do something, and everyone wants a say in how we're supposed to move forward from here.

[Which has been a headache and a half for all of the gods. Sure, they get along in the grand scheme of things, but there's definitely a little clash of ideals going on, and frankly, Fear is tired of the arguing.]

So what I thought we'd do is to have you vote on who's in charge here. Who takes action and comes up with a game plan on how we're going to suss out what the Null are planning. Obviously, Sorrow wants to be our fearless leader, but his methods are a little... direct. Delight and Rage would probably have a little murder mystery party when they get back, Tranquility and Confusion- I'm not sure if they'd actually do anything at all, come to think of it.

[Christ, this is a mess.]

As far as Love and myself go... I can think of a few people I'd like to personally interrogate.

Anyway, cast your votes or ask your standard slew of questions. Yes, I realize that some of the dissenters will be voting, yeah I know that you all want to be in charge instead- there's probably a few of us who might bend our ears to you, but as we can't put a hundred people in charge, it's gonna be one of us.

Is there a way we can protect Hope?

We're trying to figure out how to best go about it. That's the reason for this poll.

What about setting up some kind of patrol? Have a few people who can be trusted on watch by Hope's temple? That's the likeliest place for something to go down right?

That's true. There's only six of us- well, five, not counting Hope- in the city right now. For a patrol, we'd have to trust you.

[He shrugs.]

Which I'd do. Only problem is, the leader of your "guard" openly advocates for our destruction.

I haven't heard thrilling things about the guard either. I wasn't planning on including them. Besides, the people I had in mind? The guard would never see them. No one would.

[As far as Will was concerned, right now, patrols only worked if the people around you didn't know they were being watched.]

I thought that was who you were talking about.

[He sounds a little surprised.]

Who did you have in mind?

Nico di Angelo and Annabeth Chase. They both have the ability to make them invisible, or unseen.

That way we could see who goes to see Hope and if they're in any danger. And then act.

And how do I know that you're not the ones threatening him?

We're children of other gods. We've been dealing with gods all our lives. It'd kind of weird to want to kill you guys.

Besides, isn't it kind of stupid to want to kill the one god who is feeding everyone?

[Will says in a smaller voice.]

We've had to deal with ....things like what you're experiencing now.

[Almost like he doesn't want to use the word 'spies' or 'traitors']

And I think we'd all like to get it done right this time. No one gets hurt, no one has to die.

What kind of gods are you children of?

[Ahh, that got his attention. That meant he really didn't know or control who the Door pulled in.]

Uh, my dad is Apollo, he's the greek god of music, the sun, archery, prophecy, medicine, plague, reason and poetry.....he's a god of a lot of things.

[Sometimes it seemed like Apollo was more ADHD than he was.]

Annabeth's mom is Athena, she's the goddess of wisdom and battle strategy and some kinds of art, like weaving. Nico's dad is Hades, he's the god of the Underworld.

Actually now that I think about it, Nico might be able to help you.

Those all sound like fairly large responsibilities.

[Phew.]

How would Nico help me?

[Well yeah, it did. And they were. And Will was sure the hadriel gods would probably work just as well as the Olympians if they hadn't left so many decisions up to the populace.Olympian meetings were fraught with self interest. But wasn't that always the case?]

Well, you feed off Fear right? It makes you stronger, gives you more power to do what you need to do? Like my gods eat ambrosia? Nico radiates fear. He once made an entire army part like the red sea. Normally, he controls it.

[Because having random people pee themselves when they meet you is not a good way to make friends.]

It's part of the gifts he got from his dad.

.....he also kills grass when he's upset. But that's probably less helpful to you.

I don't think grass killing is very helpful, but the fear part- if he can channel that, he'd quickly rise to my list of favorite humans.

Oh, he can channel the fear, control it. Usually I think he keeps it on a pretty tight leash, otherwise it's sort of hard to make friends when people are afraid of you.

[Or Nico could have had trouble making friends because he kept running away from people out of fear of being judged. It was also hard to make friends when you kept everyone at a distance.]

I'll tell him to stop by sometime. You guys can work it out. Your temple?
