[Meditation is essential to communing with the Force, no matter how chaotic and crippled it feels in the cave. He is sitting in a ruin of a building, perched on what used to be a wall, legs crossed.]
We are all protected here. More than you think. [Against futures they do not want to face.] My visions haven't changed. It might be impossible to rectify anything.
[How cruel to stand on the precipice, see the monsters within and have no weapon; no defense.
"Beware that, when fighting monsters, you yourself do not become a monster... for when you gaze long into the abyss. The abyss gazes also into you."]
I think it's time I bite the bullet and accept -
[Oh boy. He chuckles shakily.]
It was a nice dream.

[It almost sounds like a curse!]
Everything in this case is two events. Well, two major events. Most of the misery seems to stem from them.
I know how I need to achieve changing those events, but there's so little time and if I forget what I learned here, I'll make the same mistakes again.
Video
[For anyone reigning as High King of the Noldor, it might as well be.]
What happens if you forget this place is something you can't control from here; you might as well set that possibility aside and not let it trouble you.
As for your other plans... talk them over with someone. The perspective of someone less invested in the situation can be invaluable, if not always correct.
Video
[Lightsabers and Force-wielders are so useful in those situations!]
...mm. [Fingon is right and he knows he has a habit of obsessively worrying. He really can't control everything no matter how hard he struggles.]
Why are some people given so much power if they can't use it when it's really necessary?
Video
I'm told that apparently, all we needed was for my younger brother not to have wandered off with a third of our armed forces. [
Among Fingon's many responses to the tale of the Fall of Gondolin:"YOU MEAN THERE WERE TWO BALROG SLAYERS AND TURGON RAN OFF WITH BOTH OF THEM?"]We all want problems that can be solved by the skills we have, Anakin, no matter how much power we may possess. We can improvise, certainly; we can discover unexpected strengths we never though to rely on. But sometimes....
It sounds as though you have more than enough power at your command. But power can be countered, especially if you know the person who wields it well. [And, no offense, Anakin, but you're not the most subtle of people.]
Video
[He winces.] That would've helped. Why did he do that? [Turgon, buddy, we gotta talk about timing.]
I'm supposed to bring balance. Peace. My mother didn't have me because she wanted a kid. I exist for a purpose and if I can't complete that purpose, something is wrong.
[There has to be an obstacle he can safely overcome to reach where he needs to go.]
No one can wield a lightsaber like me and my control of the Force is - [Oops bragging again.] I guess my main opponent is death.
Video
[Fingon thinks for a moment. He loves his brother, but sometimes Turgon's hard for him to explain.] My brother Turgon is a fierce warrior when called upon, but he has little love for the battlefield; and he had a young daughter he wished to protect. When one of the Valar showed him a hidden valley where his followers could be safe, he chose to retreat there with all his people.
[...Anakin, your life is a dozen different types of crazy, do you know that?] How old were you when you were told this? And did anyone ever tell you what "bringing balance might mean?"
Video
So he found a good place to hide. He didn't take care of the enemy or really bring peace to your world. [It's a half-assed job to him, but he's crazy and reckless, so.] I might put my family there, but I'd still hunt my enemies down.
[Yes, he does know that and it's shattering his sanity into itty bitty pieces.] Nine? No. I think they all assumed it meant I would be a Jedi and defeat some great evil.
Video
I assume his logic was that as we were already Doomed, it was best to trust in the Valar and to save what he could. [Fingon's feelings about the subject are complicated, but he's going to try to understand where Turgon's coming from. Especially in front of non-relatives. Maybe in front of everyone.]
They didn't think that kind of burden too much to put on a child's shoulders? [Blinking, trying to process that.]
It seems to me that such knowledge would be more likely to break a child than make him stronger.
