[ video ]

[ The face that appears in the feed is friendly and smiling, very guy next door, his eyes sparkling with curiosity. Just a harmless dude with a question for the city. ]

Hey, Hadriel. My name's Drake, I'm... not exactly new, but figure I should introduce myself anyway since I'm about to ask a personal question. I'm from a human world where there isn't any magic. But I keep hearing that people here have powers and I'm curious what kinds. I've met a couple healers, and that's pretty amazing. And helpful -- thanks, guys, if you're watching.

So. What can you do?

[ The feed shifts like he's about to turn it off, then thinks better of it and adds: ]

You can ask me anything in return, but my answers probably won't be as interesting.

( That happens. They're not secret back home, not as a concept, but as individuals?

Kate doesn't interact with humans. Not really - they're the people handling her groceries, or occasional patients if they're unlucky enough to get caught in the crossfire, but they're never friends. It's the way for a lot of them. Most humans think they're like millionaires - the people who exist that they'll never meet.
)

If they don't want to be found, gonna have ways of doing it. ( She shrugs. She uses the rooftops a lot because they're faster, yeah, but also because people don't look up. ) Avoids a lot of dumb questions or fear.

( Here, she's not as bothered. Because here she learned quickly that she needs cooperation to make her powers effective. All these universes make detecting powers harder, and she has less trouble when she knows what she's looking for. )

( That's interesting. It gets her brows to raise. The idea of humans trying to ferret it all out, when back home they're a known mass hiding as individuals in plain sight. There's a lot of mutterings from older Superhumans, especially, who say they should stay as secret as possible because humans don't understand.

Kate wonders if, had they not already been known, humans would have done that back home.

The idea is chilling. Dumb questions is one thing. So is the fear people have. But people trying to find them out-

She's too young to know a world like that. It's scarier than she wants to admit.
)

Guess not, then.

( But for the conversation, she's keeping as neutral as she can. )

Shit does get a bit messy. Not easy to keep it all under wraps.

( She shrugs. It's easy enough to explain from her experience, though there may be more to why the community does in general. )

Avoids dumb questions and stares. ( KATE YOU HAVE PINK HAIR PEOPLE ARE GOING TO STARE ANYWAY. ) People treating us like we're novelties, I guess. Mostly what I hear from others. 'Course, there's gonna be people who're scared, 'specially if you've got summat powerful. Not like we look any different. Most of us don't want to be treated different.
