He wasn't what you'd consider secretive about his behavior. People like that keep lashing out at others so long as they think they're the ones who've been wronged.

I will always wonder if things could have been different with him... and with me. Seeing echoes of individuals from other worlds, knowing how different they can turn out from one another has left me pondering the circumstances that have led me to be how I am.

Others are just as responsible for their actions as you are for your own. If you believed that shit could've been different, he'd have to have made the effort not to be an asshole as well, and it sounds like he had ample time to work on that. But he didn't. He blew it. That's not on you.
